A year ago today, I nervously asked my community to come and see my work for the first time.
SPOTLIGHT started as “I want to photograph drinking spots” and slowly became something much bigger.
For 5 months, we obsessed over everything. The images. The printing. The frames. The music. The cocktails. The location. We wanted the night to feel like stepping into the world the photographs came from.
I’ve always loved drinking spots. The noise, the humour, the chaos, the strange honesty of them. So being able to bring people into that world and have them experience the beauty I see in these spaces was incredibly special to me.
Shout out to the team @benplease@fumoclaro and @sedick.ayeh , this doesn’t exist without you fr.
Thank you to everyone who came, shared the work, bought prints, had drinks with us and helped make the night what it became. It’s still pretty cool knowing these photographs are hanging in your homes and spaces.
Still one of the best things I’ve ever made.
