A labor of love between @justjmina and I - an homage to our Filipino heritage, ‘Vessel’ is a functional sculpture derived from the Lingling-o, a symbol of fertility, masculinity and femininity in pre- colonial Filipino tribal jewelry. The installation features a suspended arrangement of 900 brunia heads from these very two hands 🇵🇭 ✋🏼🤚🏼 🇵🇭

it’s been 20 years without my dad - I spent half of it trying to understand loss, trying to understand the grief that came with it. i used to either lie or change the subject when people asked about him just so i didn’t have to deal with the unwanted attention or questions that i didn’t have answers to. i kept it all to myself for so long that it was like pandora’s box when i finally trusted someone enough to be vulnerable and process all of this with. i’ll never go back to hiding from myself or my emotions
i loved my dad with all of my heart. i later learned that he was much more of a flawed person than anyone ever let me see. i wish i could have a moment to ask even the most silliest of questions. but i’ve learnt that acceptance is my biggest lesson in this life. to more love, loss, and life. and to Rocco. i hope he shows up in my dreams tonight
