AVALANCHE DEATH- A Utah woman was killed on May 11 after an avalanche on Makalu, the fifth-highest mountain on Earth. Dave Ashley said he and his partner, Shelley Johannesen, summited the mountain in Nepal on May 9. As the couple, along with their guides, descended the mountain, Ashley said an avalanche hit Johannesen and her guide, Tawa Sherpa. See the full story through the link in our bio.

OFFICER RESIGNS- A police officer who worked in Salt Lake County for several years has resigned from his position in Oregon after body-worn camera footage caught him making racist remarks while on duty. Martin Siller was an officer with the West Valley City Police Department from 2014 to 2019. He was also a resource officer at East Hollywood High School, a charter school in West Valley, from 2014-2016 and 2019. WORKING OUTDOORS- From working on the baseball fields to teaching kids how to play pickleball, Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation has different opportunities for people looking for their first job or seasonal work. According to the National Recreation and Park Association Summer Seasonal Hiring Report, 97% of parks and recreation agencies hired summer seasonal staff in 2023.
