A hymn to Demeter, for mothers and daughters, living and dead, handed down and sung in a round (and around and around). We wanted to sing an ancient song with a new tune, and talk about how much things have changed. But (yells into the spiraling void of history) have they changed at all? Sending you love and some bravado in case you need it xx
Demeter- @rosannatavarezdance 💃
Persephone- @jettkwong , singing and playing #guzheng, alongside @zsazsa_gabor_666 howling from hades 🗣
Just a few more days left to preview these videos via the @gettymuseum 🕰
We are thankful to be in a state that supports a person’s right to reproductive health care access, and disgusted to live in a country that does not.
Support these organizations that offer immediate support for individuals including funds to travel for access to reproductive health care, and also fight to affect policy and law
Planned Parenthood- @plannedparenthood “We’ll never back down. We’ll fight every single day to make sure we all have the care and information to control our own bodies and build our own futures.”
National Network of Abortion Funds - @abortionfunds “Whatever the law or whatever the courts decide, people have always had abortions and always will.”
Kentucky Health Justice Network - @kyhealthjustice “We work with any person working to obtain an abortion. We promise to treat you with respect regardless of your race, religion, gender, sexuality, incarceration status, age, ability, preferred language, or citizenship. We acknowledge the impact intersecting identities have on abortion access.”
ACLU- @aclu_nationwide “…the ACLU has been preparing for this moment for years and will carry out a multi-pronged approach to stem the tide of attacks on abortion and expand access where possible.”
Last week to watch @FourLarks "Homeric Hymns: Visual Album." Tap the link in the bio to view the visual album that is part of the Getty Villa Museum's Theater Lab.
@FourLarks fuses ancient poetry with harmonies and rhythms inspired by the devotional folk music from America and the global diaspora.
The "Homeric Hymns" are among the oldest surviving texts from Ancient Greece. They are a collection of narrative praise poems addressed to ancient Greek deities.
These visual Hymns tell the stories of Demeter and Persephone, Semele and the lightning storm, Dionysus and the wine-dark sea, and the cycles of the sun and moon.
Enjoy this trailer of @FourLarks ’ forthcoming visual album available on Getty's website through June 30th.

sing a song to no god at all. sing a song to someone you have no name for yet. ⚡️💦☀️🌱 In the final hymn, to xenoi (something like 'guest-friends' or 'foreign ones'), @joannalynnjacobs & @yvette.cornelia reveal who we have been singing to all along.
