I took the plunge and made another one of my audio-visual experimental pieces for the @optixfest vertical film challenge. When I heard about it, I realized I finally had the chance to dust off a brief musical idea I wrote a year ago. I gave the whole process up to fate, and when the dust settled I ended up with something I was happy to submit.
Big congrats to everyone who created something for this challenge. This opportunity is something I’m so grateful for and holding onto as an artist in 2025!

This film wasn’t even supposed to happen. It started as a small, accidental project during a chaotic moment in my life. I’m usually someone who plans, structures, and maps everything out… but this one taught me that sometimes life just flows, and the best things come from following that current instead of fighting it.
The best gift throughout this has been meeting incredible filmmakers who live life through passion and grit…the kind of people who remind me why our art matters.

The festival was founded by Bruno Pischiutta, an acclaimed filmmaker and member of the European Film Academy, and Daria Trifu, producer, CEO of Global Film Studio, and editor-in-chief of Daria! Magazine. For over a decade, they’ve built this into the most important nonviolent film festival in the world, showing that powerful cinema doesn’t need to rely on violence to make an impact.
This year’s jury is led by Jill Gwen, former CFO of Fox Searchlight Pictures, who helped bring to life films like 12 Years a Slave, Birdman, and Slumdog Millionaire. She is joined by director Brad Mays, producer and SAG-AFTRA board member Ruben Roberto Gomez, and Greek journalist Eleni Giannakidou.
The festival’s live period runs from September 25 to October 6, including daily screenings and the awards show, followed by additional free screenings through October 12.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my work on a global platform alongside other filmmakers who believe in storytelling that uplifts, inspires, and connects.
