Heinäkuussa Fount & Origin lumosi Sastamala Gregorianan yleisön ohjelmalla, joka vei kuulijat reformaatiota edeltävän Englannin suurten kuorojen aikaan. Ohjelman sydämessä soi Nicholas Ludfordin (n. 1485–1557) viisiääninen Missa Lapidaverunt Stephanum, sävelletty Westminsterin palatsin kadonneeseen Pyhän Stefanuksen kappeliin. Rinnalla kuultiin teoksia William Cornyshilta, John Bedynghamilta ja Robert Fayrfaxilta.

Early music concerts bring to life works that were once heard only by a select audience – now shared with everyone! 📜
In July, Fount & Origin enchanted the audience at Sastamala Gregoriana with a program transporting listeners to the era of England’s great pre-Reformation choirs. At its heart was Nicholas Ludford’s (c. 1485–1557) five-part Missa Lapidaverunt Stephanum, composed for the lost Chapel of St Stephen at Westminster Palace. The program also featured works by William Cornysh, John Bedyngham, and Robert Fayrfax.

Tänään klo 19 Pyhän Marian kirkossa kuullaan brittiläisen vokaaliyhtyeen Fount & Origin konsertti, jossa syvennytään Westminsterin hovikappelien ja kuninkaallisten saleiden moniääniseen loistoon ennen reformaatiota. Ohjelman ytimessä on Nicholas Ludfordin harvoin kuultu Missa Lapidaverunt Stephanum, ja mukana on myös teoksia mm. Cornyshilta ja Fayrfaxilta – musiikkia, joka aikanaan kaikui Henrik VIII:n ja kardinaali Wolseyn valtapiirissä.
Fount & Origin on brittiläinen vokaaliyhtye, joka on erikoistunut myöhäiskeskiajan moniääniseen laulumusiikkiin. Yhtye tunnetaan lämpimästä, valoa hehkuvasta soinnistaan sekä historiallisesti informoidusta esitystyylistään. This evening at 19:00 in St Mary’s Church, the British vocal ensemble Fount & Origin presents a programme evoking the majestic vocal traditions of pre-Reformation England. Fount & Origin esittää vaikuttavan ohjelman, joka ammentaa reformaatiota edeltävän Englannin suurimpien kuorojen perinteistä. Musiikki on peräisin Westminsterin kuninkaallisen vallan keskuksen kirkkojen, kappelien ja salien loiston päiviltä, ja sen mahtavuus ja moniäänisyys heijastavat aikakauden kunnianhimoa.
Ohjelman ytimessä on Nicholas Ludfordin (n. 1485–1557) viisiääninen Missa Lapidaverunt Stephanum, joka on sävelletty Westminsterin palatsin kadonneeseen Pyhän Stefanuksen kappeliin. Teos edustaa myöhäiskeskiajan vokaalimusiikin huippua energiallaan, draamallaan ja runsaalla tekstuurillaan. Messun osioiden lomassa kuullaan teoksia muilta Westminsterin aikakauden säveltäjiltä, kuten William Cornyshilta ja John Bedynghamilta, sekä otteita Henrik VIII:n kuorokirjasta, mukaan lukien Robert Fayrfaxin sävellyksiä.
Fount & Origin on 11 laulajan vokaaliyhtye, joka on erikoistunut myöhäiskeskiajan musiikkiin. 📣 CONCERT IN EWELME, OXFORDSHIRE, FRIDAY 16 MAY 📣
We're really looking forward to giving a concert as part of the Alyce Chaucer festival in Ewelme, Oxfordshire, which takes place 16–18 May.
Our concert features English vocal music from the fifteenth century, representing the kind of music Alyce Chaucer (Geoffrey Chaucer's granddaughter and benefactor of Ewelme) would have heard during her lifetime.
Time and place: Friday 16 May, 18:00, at Ewelme Church, Ewelme, Oxfordshire.
We will also perform the famous 'Missa Caput' (Anonymous) and other liturgical music as part of a commemorative Mass in the church on Sunday 18 May at 12:00.

Happy Epiphany! We hope you enjoy our performance of a wonderfully dramatic medieval motet which tells the Epiphany story—from Herod's homicidal ranting to the arrival of the Magi at the birthplace of Christ.
The manuscript for this music only survived thanks to its re-use in the binding of a later 15th-century codex, documenting the reigns of Henry IV, V, and VI (Bodleian MS Hatton 81). It's fun to imagine what that 15th-century scribe was thinking when he secretly bound this piece about bad King Herod into a work about his own kings!
