ROCKY HORROR TONIGHT! Doors at 7, screening starts at 8. Costumes encouraged, prop bags available to buy for $5. Come get weird and enjoy the film with a full shadow cast!
If you’re not familiar with the story of Jason Molina, fair warning, it’ll break your heart.
A genius by any reckoning, he was as talented as he was prolific. But he never quite hit the level of success that he was due.
When that happens to someone this talented we say things like “he was a songwriter’s songwriter” because inevitably they have found their way into the hearts of so many who make and truly love music, even if a larger audience sometimes proves elusive.
And win hearts he certainly did, especially in our region, where he seemed to speak our language while laying it all bare across a variety of genres and sounds.
So it’s very welcome to see The Foundry Theater offering a showing of You Fuckers Figure It Out… A Jason Molina Story, making its West Virginia debut. And they just happen to be pairing it up with a musical performance by some of our faves.
You’ve probably heard me wax poetic about William Matheny and Tucker Riggleman. They are two of my favorite West Virginia songwriters and they will be treating us to renditions of some of Molina’s work. I have no doubt that it will be revelatory in their hands. They are joined by The Spineriders, who I don’t know yet, but am looking forward to seeing.
Whether you know Jason Molina’s work or not, if you love and enjoy music, I’d urge you to join us for this show at The Foundry and the after party at The Loud.
Orbit’s wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the level of passion for music on display here.
