Let's take a moment to shout THANK YOU to a group of volunteers from KPMG. They spent part of today sprucing things up at our Laurel Creek Apartments Learning Center. This is KPMG's annual Community Impact Day and we're honored that these volunteers chose to serve one of our programs. They organized closets, restocked school supplies, cleaned out the kitchen and refreshed technology for the students in the afterschool program. #KPMGCommunityImpact

🦋 Students in our Learning Centers have been nurturing butterflies and watching them grow through their life cycle. At M Station yesterday, it was that momentous time when the butterflies are released from their habitat and fly into the environment.
🪴This activity is part of the STEM and green focus in our Learning Centers that's helping the students fly high, just like the butterflies!
👏 One of the best moments during our annual Volunteer Appreciation Party is when a Foundation Communities resident or client delivers a personal thank you message to the volunteers. On Monday, Nolah Easterly, a seventh grader from our M Station Learning Center, did the honors with an honor roll-worthy speech!

Last night we held our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner! This event celebrates all the efforts of our incredible volunteers throughout Foundation Communities. From seasonal support like our Tax Help program and Health Coverage Initiatives to year round services like Food Pantries and Supper Clubs, our volunteers consistently show up for their neighbors throughout Austin. We see the impact of their work every day and are so glad to have each of them be a part of our community.
We want to give a big thank you to everyone who contributes their time throughout the year ❤️ We hope you stay with us for years to come!

💸 The entrepreneurial spirit was thriving on Friday at our Lakeline Station Learning Center. The students have been using their creativity to make products that their classmates would love to buy with a (fake) $50 budget, and Friday was Market Day - time to set up shop and use their best salesmanship. Paper airplanes, clay figures and original books were moving fast.
💲The Market Day activity is designed to teach students about supply and demand, money management, and the value of hard work and creativity. Staff says few activities have generated this much excitement.
