Photography has become a key part of how I travel - a trip just wouldn't feel right without my camera slung over my shoulder and plenty of time to spare for snapping photos
Traveling can feel frantic sometimes (a lot of the time tbh), but photography lets me to slow down and notice the little details of a place. And to be able to interact with these places artistically is such a huge privilege. I can bring back memories but I also bring back little pieces of art from around the world and I love that 🥰
(anyway thanks for joining my lil ted talk haha)

This one is definitely top ten for me from my Asia trip 😍
There's something about the layers of texture from foreground to background, and the way the soft light of the sunset is playing across the scene - gah! It just makes me so happy hahaha
But I won't pretend like it wasn't one of ✨️hundreds✨️ I took of these boats hanging out in front of our campsite at the base of Mt Batur 🙄😅 I may have been a tad obsessed hahah

A few more favourites from the Mt. Batur Lava Fields!
I love the detail of the tiny spider web in the first one - and the contrast of the red truck against the murky green of the trees.
This was such an eery and unique place, and we were super lucky to get there first to catch these cool photos. If you ever go to Bali, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out (and get there at dawn to beat the crowds)!

The Mount Batur Lava Fields shortly after dawn...it felt like we had stepped into a dystopian landscape. We were a few of the first ones there so we got some incredible photos of the barren black fields.
And @sarah.wissmann was wearing the perfect jacket to match the colour scheme, so of course a lil photoshoot was a must hahah the first one feels like it should be the poster of a post-apocalyptic dystopian film. Maybe one of these days I'll turn it into one just for fun!
(I am under contract in posting this photo to confirm that yes, indeed Sarah you are in fact the best roommate and friend I could ask for, okay bye)

Is it just me or does the first one look a bit like a painting? The background sand looks like the strokes of a brush across canvas and there's something about the blue of the heron and the texture of its features (am I seeing things? Hahah)
And the second photo was one I could hardly believe I'd caught as the osprey fled from its perch on a telephone pole, hauling with it some lunch for its young - I especially love the texture and smattering of colours across its wing 😍 what a gorgeous creature!

Mixing it up with an extreme close up this time! One morning on the Lindblad trip, I spent a couple hours roaming the ship with one of the fancy cameras they had on board, and this was the result.
I'm so grateful I got to play with this camera, it really added so much to the trip and sent me home with some gorgeous photos my little zoom lens would never have managed hahah

As the pangas shot across the water in search of whale sightings or unique birds, glimpses of other wildlife could also be caught within the neighbouring dunes.
This photo was something of a lucky snap (getting a clear shot as the boat jostled against the waves was a challenge to say the least). It might just be one of my favourites from the trip 😄

One day on the water in Magdalena Bay, the whales were feeling shy so the dolphins came out to play instead. They danced along the bows of our boats and leapt into the air when they were sure they wouldn’t be caught on camera...cheeky little buggers 😂
(In the second photo, you can see the bow of the boat in the corner, they were so close!)

When I say the whales were friendly...it was WILD how curious they were! Coming right up to nuzzle the boat and check us out 🧐
I didn't capture much from my own interactions with the whales cause I was so locked in, but this video from another passenger on our trip perfectly encapsulates what it was like - it took my breath away
