Wooster Penthouse, NYC
A series of before/after images that capture the extent of our renovation and reclamation of this SoHo apartment that had been drastically damaged by fire. Located within an historic former warehouse building, existing elements of the space - such as roof framing, standpipes, brick party walls, and skylights - were preserved, celebrated, and set in playful counterpart to bright new finishes that bring new life to the apartment. Translucent folding partition walls add a light touch of flexible functionality, while broad fully-retractable window walls open the space to the expanded roof deck affording panoramic views of surrounding Manhattan. The new stair accentuates the light cascading from the skylight above with floating treads and a delicate oak spindles.

The sheer vertical walls of Mariscal Canyon in Big Bend National Park, carved from 100 million-year-old Cretaceous limestone by the Rio Grande, rise up to 1850 feet above the river - higher than any building in the US. This austere and magnificent place overwhelms with echoes of space and time on an incomprehensible scale. Yet it is also home to a delicate ecosystem of flora and fauna sustained in a precarious and ever-evolving balance.
Photos from our visit to Mariscal Canyon, except image 2 from adjacent and remote San Vicente Canyon. One can feel nature’s heartbeat here, the encompassing shimmer of unfolding and poetic physical reality, cast in stone but vibrating with life.
