It has been a pleasure hosting photographic artists Rebecca Dagnall and Glenn Iseger- Pilkington in South Hedland this week. Glenn and Becc have been in the Pilbara region hosting workshops in Roebourne and Hedland - sharing their knowledge and skills with intermediate to advanced photographers.
Here are some snaps from Tuesday’s uplifting session at YIC, which focused on photo portraiture while exploring ☀️ natural ☀️ and artificial lighting 💡 techniques.

Meet your mentors: Glenn Iseger-Pilkington
Glenn Iseger-Pilkington is a Nhanda and Nyoongar curator and artist who has been working in the arts in WA for the last 15 years and works alongside artists living in remote communities to develop photographic practices. Most recently Glenn has been creating photographs that explore the lasting impact of childhood experiences.
STORYTELLING IN PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Explore concept development processes with mentors Rebecca and Glenn in this three hour workshop at Spinifex Hill Studio.
Working together, we will unpack how to get from a seed idea to a resolves photograph or artwork that evokes feeling, memory, and tells a story.
This workshop is suitable for intermediate to advanced photographers.

Rebecca Dagnall is a photographic artist and lecturer at Curtin University it Technology. She was raised in the suburbs of Perth, and the iconography of Western Australia suburbia has been a major influence on her art practice. In recent years she has expanded her focus to explore narrative of anxiety within the Australian bush.
