One of the most rewarding parts of our work is creating spaces that encourage people to slow down, reconnect, and spend time outdoors. Over the past year and change, we’ve had the opportunity to help bring the Senses + Stillness Garden to life at @cylburn_arboretum_friends . The garden is part of the new demonstration gardens that officially opened this spring during Market Day.
Inspired by traditional sensory gardens, the space was created as a quiet place to wander, pause, and reconnect with the landscape around you. We’re honored to have contributed to such a meaningful public space and hope anyone local takes time to visit one of Baltimore’s truly fantastic (and free!) public amenities.

At Fieldstone Farm, stone was salvaged on site where possible and sourced locally to keep the garden grounded in its setting. A custom bluestone paving pattern, developed with the homeowner, carries through the space, while planted joints soften the edges and help the walls ease into the surrounding landscape.

Wednesday was a really special night for FORM, and one we’re still smiling about. We were honored to take home two awards- Outdoor Living and Landscape Design: Large Space, from @baltimorehome ’s Home & Design Awards for our Westwind project.

This Baltimore property brings together historic character and modern outdoor living. @FORMgardendesign connected the prairie-style house, pool, pool house, and historic walled garden with terraced landforms and a sequence of garden rooms. Raised beds, espalier fruit trees, native meadows, woodland gardens, and stormwater gardens create a landscape that is both beautiful and functional, supporting wildlife, growing food, managing water, and immersing the home in nature.

Located on a wooded hillside in Baltimore County, this master plan, designed by FORM Landscape Architect Thomas Haley, uses the site’s natural slope to seamlessly organize a robust and varied program. A large pool with sun shelf, a basketball and pickleball court, putting green, and open sports lawn support active lifestyles, while courtyard gardens, seating terraces, fountains, and a greenhouse create quieter spaces woven into the land.
Entertaining is embedded throughout the design. Guests arrive at the motor court, move through the home, and emerge onto terraces that overlook the natural surroundings, while the outdoor kitchen and dining area set the stage for long, relaxed evenings.
Thoughtfully organized yet expansive in use, the design balances contemporary forms and traditional materials to create a landscape that feels cohesive and generous.
