This month's Exceptional Subscription coffee is Blackcurrant: a vibrant, fruit-driven Ethiopian coffee with fresh florals, herbal depth, and natural sweetness.
A lively and distinctive expression of Guji, it’s shaped by high altitude, nutrient-rich soils, and careful natural processing. The cup is fresh and complex, with bright aromatics, layered sweetness, and an energetic character that remains composed. Expect fresh herbal notes, delicate florals, and subtle spice, supported by juicy sweetness and a clean, refreshing finish.
This coffee truly shines as a filter brew, where its clarity and aromatic detail are most pronounced. Its natural sweetness and intensity also translate beautifully to espresso, delivering a vibrant shot with lift and complexity rather than heaviness. It’s a coffee for those who appreciate flavour and nuance, while still wanting something approachable and easy to return to.
Careful drying on raised beds for 22 days allows the natural process to enhance fruit character while keeping the cup clean and well balanced. The result is a coffee that feels generous and expressive, yet thoughtfully produced and highly repeatable.
We chose this coffee for its freshness, complexity, and strong sense of place. It’s a vivid example of what Guji does best; High-altitude sweetness, florals, and herbal nuance. If you’re looking for a bright, characterful Ethiopian coffee that rewards attention while staying easy to enjoy, this one is well worth brewing.
Available throughout May exclusively as part of our Exceptional subscription.
