She has performed in various local and international clubs as well as festivals, hosts her own radio show on Swedish Retreat Radio and in 2022 released her EP "Medusa" on Morbit Exile. Welia's musical taste is broad, which reflects in her distinct productions, always characterized by unexpected drum patterns and her own distorted and sometimes heavily manipulated vocals. Expect a creative journey through experimental, abstract UK techno, breakbeat and ambient sounds. "Walking among these strange new surroundings, I keep wondering, are they just as suspicious of me as I am of them? I leave parts of myself behind wherever I go, and now I’m reassembling. Looking in the mirror, I can’t seem to make out the shape of my own face, but there’s something moving behind me. Canvas creeps around the corner, lights are flickering. Plaster peels off the walls, with cracks spreading wide like pulsating veins. I turn around and I realize: This space is not actually empty, it is filled with absence. My feet are suddenly wet, my body soaking up with water. But I’m not drowning, I branch out, my socks grow into a beautiful tree. My ribcage has fallen out, yet I still feel so very alive. Introducing the artists of "Riot Within", a group exhibition curated by Anemona-Ligia Spanache, opening tomorrow 8.11.22 at Währinger Straße 128, 17-22:00. ROMAN PROSTEJOVSKY’s artistic practice and the resulting works are mostly shaped by the artist’s own experiences and adventures. He treats social and political issues in a very direct and personal way and always finds new ways to express himself with different media and materials. For him, art is a means to an end, with the purpose of criticism and pointing out grievances. CHUCKY SCHUSTER is an artist and designer based in Vienna who works both digitally and on canvas. She uses New Media such as Machine Learning and AI under the synonyme Chucky_000fff for her digital artworks and lets the viewer become part of an obscure and at the same time magnetic world created by the synergy of human and machine. Having a special interest in the critical issue of plastics, science and futuristic ideas, the artist creates her own bio-polymers, which are then transferred onto canvases. Most recently she joined Hyperfuturism (1-1pr.io), a global collective of digital artists. MANFRED UNGER lives and works in Vienna. He has been working at the intersection of fine art, fashion and design for over two decades. With his photographs, sculptures and performative works, Unger moves on the border between total work of art and performance, transcending the comfort zone of socially accepted behaviour and showing the absurdity of practices of socialisation. The works are often created spontaneously and in cooperation with collaborators. STEFAN KAINBACHER is a designer, media artist, lecturer and curator. Trained in Dornbirn, Manchester, Berlin, and Linz, he founded the media art collective NEON GOLDEN in 2005. In addition, he is the creative director of the design studios Beauty Parlor and BPNXT in Vienna and teaches at various international universities. See you tomorrow!

Sparked through a variety of factors, such as social injustices and distorted realities, this intense feeling might manifest in panic attacks, phobias or the fear of not fitting in, up to the point of an enduring state of angst. Dealing with the uneasy side of life can be overwhelming at times, overcoming or submitting to fear seemingly the only choices we have. The exhibition “Riot within” shows artworks that approach different aspects of fear, and explore ways of confronting and dealing with it. With artworks by Stefan Kainbacher, Roman Prostejovsky, Chucky Schuster and Manfred Unger; curated by Anemona-Ligia Spanache.
