rut x forma: Syz & Small Crab We’re returning to the Island this May for our first collaboration with @rut.rut.rut . A lethal meeting point of textural experimentation and soundsystem intent. We’re inviting Vitalizm head @olisyz and Small Crab to the city’s favourite stripped-back room. @olisyz thrills in the groove, an artist of UK club singularity who revels in twisted rhythms and sound-sculpted bass weight. A vast network of influences and intentions inform the Syz style. It’s a unique sound, respectful to house and techno past while moving modern with wry grime textures and sub-heavy dynamics; percussive grooves layered with sharp garage swing, found sounds and bass pressure. Support comes from @_smallcrab_ , who’s sound is characterised by a distinctive, percussion-driven style influenced by bass music. Her tracks blend deep club rhythms with atmospheric textures, creating dynamic and immersive soundscapes. Setting the tone are rut (SSSLIP & Beton Brut) + forma (severine). A long time in the making. This March, Forma launches in the depths of The Island - a focused night of forward-leaning club music rooted in pressure, texture and physical sound. For the opening edition we’re honoured to invite Rhyw to Bristol, alongside Yushh and Dom Carlo. @rhyw__ ’s music moves like liquid mercury - slick, mutable and playfully disobedient. One half of Fever AM with Mor Elian, he fuses ultra-modern techno, broken rhythm and modular grit, slipping into otherworldly spaces while never fully leaving the dancefloor. His synaesthetic sound design and razor-sharp selections balance intricacy with impact, pulling you onto the floor almost involuntarily - keeping the body in motion while the mind drifts elsewhere. Support comes from @yushh____ - a Bristol favourite figurehead carving out a singular space in contemporary club music. Deeply informed by soundsystem culture, her sets thrive on contrast and momentum - low-end pressure, shifting rhythms and atmosphere that make every turn feel alive and in motion. @_severine____ is a Bristol based DJ carving out a distinct presence in the city’s underground scene, blending heavy rhythms with raw, high-energy selections. Known for her intuitive sets and sharp ear for mood, she moves seamlessly across genres, creating immersive dance booters to get your knees up. Severine is constantly building, being on bills with highly respected artists and being a part of forever evolving scene. Severine is a blueprint to the dancefloor and her history showcases that. She has also formed her own output, by creating Forma and doing their first party at the iconic venue The Island, with heavy weapon DJs such as Rhyw, Yushhh & Dom Carlo to set the pace for Forma nights. t.rut is a label and event series comprised of London-based Beton Brut and Bristol-based SSSLIP. It has grown from of a party in Hackney, which hosted Jess Hands, Severine and Noti - and was the logical next step following their 2025 joint release on Grid Records featuring legendary grime MC Trim. @_betonbrut_ is a London-based underground electronic producer known for crafting dark, stripped-back club music rooted in UK bass and grime influences. His sound blends minimal techno, electro, and experimental elements, focusing on heavy rhythms, sparse drum patterns, and textured, industrial atmospheres. Pushing the minimal to the maximum. @ssslip___ is amongst the forefront of forward-thinking DJs and producers stemming from Bristol right now. Constantly displaying a strong passion for dissected rhythms, he floats in and out of club tool bangers right through to disentangled IDM. Small Crab has quickly established herself as a compelling presence in the electronic music scene, gaining recognition both as a DJ and producer. Known for her energetic and immersive DJ sets, she brings a dynamic approach to the dancefloor, weaving together bass-driven rhythms, percussive textures, and forward-thinking club sounds. Her ability to balance intensity with atmosphere has earned her bookings at respected venues such as Wire, Sneaky Pete’s, Venue MOT, Fitzroy, Soup, and Macadam. Alongside her DJ work, Small Crab has been steadily developing a production style that mirrors the spirit of her sets. Heavy, wallop & absolute stomping grounds. We're thrilled to be inviting Syz to The Island for the first time for rut x forma on 8th May 🔒 A typical Syz set locks straight into the groove, wielding timeless bass cuts alongside garage deep digs amongst contemporary and vintage dance tracks. He’s an avid digger and ambitious deck technician who maintains a giddy sense of excitement with a learned understanding of the dancefloor. Syz’s sound + The Island is a match made in heaven. Forma: Occyx Last but not least, production. Really excited to have @occyx_ joining us to shape the space for the first Forma. A multidisciplinary artist and part of the brains behind the free party and installation collective Earthwork, their work moves between lighting, sound and their own production with an instinctive understanding of the dancefloor. There’s an unfiltered creativity in everything they do, but also a serious attention to detail. The kind of approach that transforms a room without distracting from the music. For this edition we’re lucky to have Occyx and Anna joining us (two thirds of the Earthwork crew) helping build the atmosphere for the night.
