Marcus O’Mahony
@omahony_marcus is a ceramicist working from Glencairn, Co. Waterford, where each vessel is shaped by hand and transformed through an intense 50-hour firing in a wood-fired Anagama kiln, reaching temperatures of up to 1300°C.
Using techniques such as layered slips, crackle slip, shino and celadon glazes, and clay bodies enriched with feldspar, grit, and iron, O’Mahony allows flame, ash, and heat to become active collaborators. Fly ash settles and melts across surfaces, flame paths leave rich markings, and glazes break, pool, and shift in tone - from milky whites and soft greens to deep russets and oranges.
Each piece bears the record of its placement in the kiln, making every vessel singular: an intersection of material, process, and time.
