I really wish the lighting was better but it’s all part of the experience at @beetlehousela ! I was expecting cool decor and maybe some gimmicks but YALL. THE FOOD IS SO GOOD! Three course menu for $65 per person and incredible performances while you dine and drink. Do not miss Beetlehouse before they move!!

Funny how a new and functional kitchen can really jumpstart my love of cooking! Here’s a week of meals in the new apartment. Boyfriend and I moved a town over to save money while he’s working on his doctorate, and both he and our new housemate are benefiting from my renewed passion. Also helpful that I’m temporarily cooking meat again while I try to work on some health stuff. *Tuna pasta using ingredients from my trip to Italy *Amazing caprese salad using produce from the local farmers market *A tinned fish board using gifts from the new housemate (he works at a gourmet food store!) *Surf and Turf (bf wanted steak and why did I have lobster tails in the freezer? It survived the move because duh) *My ā€œfamousā€ Marscapone Chicken Marsala via @andiemmitchell ’s recipe *Gumbo using mix from our trip to New Orleans Who knows, maybe a return to food blogging is in my future!

I’m behind in posting and somehow every picture I have I want to start with ā€œthis is the best ____ I’ve ever had!ā€ But clearly NorCal knows its stuff because this sushi at @amami.napa was… some of the best I’ve ever had! Definitely worth it. šŸ£

I was passing through San Francisco on a work trip and googled ā€œBest Chinese Foodā€ and found myself at Bei Fang Style. I am going to be DREAMING about these dumplings forever now. Seriously best dumplings I’ve ever had. It’s tiny, family-owned, and you can see everything is made from scratch with love. Definitely coming back next time I’m in town!

This was the best donut of my life. If you’re local to or visiting Santa Barbara you need to check out @hookandpressdonuts ! S’mores are my favorite treat and this s’mores donut saved my morning after eating the worst bagel of my life at another spot in town. Thank you, Hook and Press! #santabarbara #santabarbaraeats #eaterla #visitsanrabarbara

Napa is often a ā€œfancy foodā€ kind of place, but sometimes you just need something cooked with a little more heart. @smallworldrestaurant is all that and more. Best falafel I’ve ever had!

I finally made it out to @samasanroque —my favorite fancy dinner spot has a counter service concept closer to my neighborhood, yay! Tried the salmon bento box and the fried Korean cauliflower and they were super tasty, especially paired with a @lamadogtaproom beer. . . . . . #sbeats #santabarbara #visitsb #visitsantabarbara #sbfood #sbeats #santabarbarafood #yelpcentralcoast

We were about to leave #neworleans without two key things: a poboy, and a visit to @mophonola . Luckily, the airport let us kill two birds with one stone by having a Mopho airport location! We capped off our culinary adventure splitting two delicious banh-mi inspired poboys that were utterly out of this world.

The famous, potentially the first?, mixed cocktail to come out of New Orleans is the Sazarac! If you want a fun, free experience definitely check out the @sazerachouse on Canal street. And yes, there ARE samples!

Another recent food fixation: turkey sandwiches. Smoked. My friend took us to @devilmoonbbq and we had many a mango margarita and tasty bbq here, and I got my sandwich. If you’re seeking good southern BBQ, hit them up! #neworleans #visitnola #visitneworleans #neworleansfood #neworleansbbq

ā€œDid you JUST go to New Orleans for the seafood boils?ā€ —a friend, calling me out on my recent fixation. Uh, maaaaybe?

This was our meal on the Steamboat Natchez! A lovely tour of the city from the famous Mississippi River while jazz plays and our plates were full of Cajun favorites. The fried chicken was especially good, and the horseradish sauce for the steak was delicious. Odd standout were the sweet potatoes! Definitely worth at least doing a lunch if you can snag a ticket ā›“ļø @steamernatchez
