When Jennifer Gayler Garden Design asked us to create a pergola for a beautifully planned garden, we knew it would be something truly unique.
The vision? A structure that felt like a natural extension of the garden—blending effortlessly with its surroundings while adding character and a personal touch.
How We Made It Happen:
🌿 A Team Effort - From the first site visit to the final installation, we worked closely with Jennifer and the homeowner. We explored different design ideas—from a simple, classic build to a more detailed, hand-forged option—so they could choose the perfect fit.
🛠️ Precision & Craftsmanship - Small details make a big impact. The pergola features elegantly tapered arches, a textured finish, and carefully punched (not drilled) holes to maintain a seamless, polished look.
🎨 A Personal Element - During a relaxed design meeting over coffee, we learned about the client’s appreciation for cigars. That little detail inspired a unique centre feature, complete with gold leaf and hand-painted accents.
📏 Perfectly Tailored - The garden’s original stone wall had its own distinct texture, so we customised the pergola’s arches to complement it, making the entire piece feel like it had always been there.
🛡️ Built to Last - After fabrication, the pergola went through a full finishing process—blasting, zinc coating, and painting—before being carefully assembled on site. This ensures it not only looks stunning but also stands strong for years to come.

When Guildford Borough Council approached us with the brief to prevent further deterioration of these gates at the Watts Chapel, we knew this wasn’t just about restoration—it was about conservation.
Our goal? To respect the journey these gates had been on for over a century, preserving their history while ensuring they stand strong for the future.
The key elements included:
- Careful Conservation: Each wrought iron and copper component was identified, cleaned, and treated with a gentle touch.
- Preserved Patina: We wanted to keep that beautiful aged look while stabilising the structure.
- Custom Copper Rivets: Made to match the originals perfectly, giving the gates a fresh yet authentic finish.
- Hinge Refurbishment: So the gates now hang square and true—just as they should!
