A Complete Foot Assessment For You
During your session, our fit specialists take you through a full, rider‑focused foot evaluation designed to eliminate the common issues cyclists simply put up with:
Foot shape and arch profiling to understand your natural structure
Insole assessment to match the right level of support and stability.
Wedging evaluation to correct alignment, reduce pressure points, and improve power transfer.
Shoe fit analysis for both on‑road and off‑road riding styles.
This is a precise, hands‑on process that ensures your shoes match your anatomy, your riding style, and your long‑term comfort.
What happens if your bike fit is perfect but something still doesn’t feel right? Is it the bike or is it you?
Thomas of Foran CC in the studio this week, his overall bike fit position was solid, however it was a persistent sensation of an improper foot connection and cleat setup that needed deeper investigation.
As a very powerful rider, with a high pain threshold, we needed to address the underlying causes of his issues. And as it happens all pretty normal bodily functions, other than some common muscle imbalances and joint restrictions specifically in the hips, back, foot and ankles but nothing out of the ordinary.
So we got him off the bike and worked on specific movements to restore balance, control and activation. Then through simple testing with various foot stabilisations and cleat adjustments, we aimed to find the most effective physical connection based on rider feel!
This might sound like an uneducated way of doing things but it’s not at all! Listen to the rider, their feedback, their sensations and use it to base the next adjustments on. That’s how we truly help to achieve the right outcome.
To summarise some adjustments made: - The core bike fit remains unchanged. - The saddle was lowered by 2mm to account for cleat adjustments. - Brake lever heights were set slightly unevenly to balance upper body posture and pelvic stability. - Cleat alignment was modified a narrower stance on one side and a wider stance on the other. - Insole tweaks were applied, heel correction to the left foot and forefoot to the right.
I will always keep telling you that bike fitting is an ongoing journey and we are far from done. Your body did not get like this overnight so we can’t expect to fix it in one session, but these techniques should provide you with a better understanding of how you and the bike should feel and keep improving that.
And if you’re as strong of a sprinter and rider as Thomas then make sure to test these adjustments under high load.

Bike Fitting….does it work? 🚴♂️🚴♀️
Natural physical asymmetries often make it difficult to maintain efficient posture and form while cycling. Unlike daily movement, where our bodies can easily adapt to share loads, cycling often highlights our biases toward a dominant side. This imbalance can lead to common issues such as knee and back pain, hip tightness, numbness in the hands or feet, tension in the neck and shoulders.
A bike fitter or physio will often see pelvic tilts, shoulder or hip drop, functional leg length discrepancies, rib cage rotations, even facial asymmetry.
Most cyclists will attempt to push through these imbalances, and many often find riding stressful or uncomfortable. Although physical conditioning can and will help, it is frequently insufficient to achieve even weight distribution on a bike and our bodies start to compensate.
Form bike fit products offer a revolutionary solution to these challenges. By utilising in and outer shoe wedges to create a better connection with the ground, or leg length shims and cleat extenders to centralise the pelvis, we can distribute power more evenly through the legs and stabilise the body.
Proper bike fitting is essential for comfort and efficiency, however without addressing and correcting underlying structural asymmetries, a standard fit may only provide temporary relief. Form bike fit products provide a critical, permanent solution to help you ride at your best.
It’s important to remember the body adapts over time and it can learn or unlearn certain movement patterns, so understand what your body needs and gradually begin making changes to influence a stable, balanced and easy movement.
Thank you form bike fitting for giving us the tools to make a difference 🙏

Do you feel yourself sitting off to one side while cycling? You experience saddle pressure, foot pain, knee issues, hand numbness, or shoulder discomfort primarily all on one side, then you likely have an asymmetrical posture.
All of us will shift our weight to one side, most often the right side, and overtime this shift is linked to certain movement habits, a higher foot arch on the side you lean toward with better internal hip rotation and adduction, while the opposite side exhibits better external rotation, abduction and a lower foot arch.
The goal is to balance your posture by teaching the restricted side better internal rotation and the other external, your foot needs more strength with good ankle mobility helping your body adopt a more even movement pattern. It learnt to move this way it can unlearn.
It is important to remember that the most common cause of asymmetry on the bike is NOT the bike itself; if your body moves this way off the bike, it will do the same while riding.
Address the root cause and work on your body’s mechanics, you CAN develop a more neutral and efficient movement pattern. These issues will not be fixed in just one bike fit session but your feeling on the bike will improve and the more you understand the cause the more we progress with the solution.
So don’t go buying new shoes, saddles, bib shorts, bar tape, handlebars and stems until you understand your body and what it needs!
