Growing up, Taiwanese breakfast was a treat, something we’d have with the whole family while visiting Taiwan. You tiao, fan tuan, savory soy milk. Simple, comforting, and really specific to that place and time.
This is my homage to that, with a few twists I couldn’t help myself on: sourdough scallion pancakes, turnip cake waffles, and purple rice fan tuan.

this one is an homage to one of my favorite snacks ever: pickled green mango. these are preciously carried back from my trips to taiwan, their salty sourness reminding me of the motherland and of childhood sour candy.
paired with red oolong chiffon cake, a small dollop of mango curd, and a considerable amount of salted plum powder with whipped cream
obsessed with pâte de fruit now! why are they so cute 🥰

peppery bitter nutty flavors paired with a slightly sweet shokupan 😌
milk bread recipe based on @kingarthurbaking and watercress pesto recipe below👇🏻
55g pistachios, shelled
1 bunch of watercress, thickest stems removed
1/2 a lemon, juiced
1.5 bunches of basil
35g feta
20g parmesan
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves of garlic
salt and pepper to taste
blend everything in a food processor and adjust to taste!
