We proudly manage public access to forest reserves across SA, providing spaces for camping, hiking, horse riding, mountain biking, community events and more. Our forests welcome thousands of visitors each year for lowโimpact recreation, with free access for walkers, runners, cyclists, dogโwalkers and orienteering groups.
To support inclusive access, our ranger team assists visitors who require disability access and provides information on accessible trails, facilities and forest areas. Many sites also offer accessible toilets and dedicated carparking at key campgrounds, picnic areas and visitor centres. Pedestrian gates and stepโovers are placed throughout the forests to ensure safe, easy entry for all users.
Sustainable forestry means forests can produce renewable timber and remain great places for recreation - a win for everyone.

Behind the scenes, ForestrySA crews are working around the clock to reduce bushfire risk - from prescribed burning and targeted fuel reduction to maintaining thousands of kilometres of fire breaks.
Our operational teams play a vital frontline role in keeping forests, neighbours and communities safe. Their work doesnโt stop when the fire season ends - planning, hazard assessments and specialised training continue yearโround to ensure weโre always ready to respond. Every proactive step helps protect the landscapes we care for.

Forestry SA will be carrying out one day of weed spraying operations in Mt Crawford Forest, including the Murrays, Big Flat, Forties and Charcoal Pits blocks.
โ ๏ธ For safety, we ask visitors to avoid these areas while aerial operations are underway and to follow all onโsite signage and staff directions.
Weed control is part of routine plantation management and helps support healthy, productive forests. Herbicide use is generally limited to the first two years of a plantationโs 34โyear cycle, with minimal use beyond that.
