We released two new beers over the weekend during our 14th Anniversary celebration, we’d like to tell you about them now.
Approaching Nothing - 8% Double IPA Anniversary collaboration with @hiddenriverbeer .
It had been a while since we got together with the @HiddenRiverBeer gang to brew some beer, and we figured a DIPA to celebrate our 14th Anniversary was the perfect occasion. We mashed in 2-row barley and lots of flaked oats, and let the Hidden River dudes throw hops wherever they damned well pleased, and it sure pleased them to throw hops just about every-damn-where! Citra, Cascade, Riwaka, and Strata made their way into the mashtun, the kettle early and late, and extra charges were added to the dry hopper. The beer pours with a Douglasville-style haze and really bursts with hop character out of the glass.
We’re getting notes of mango-heavy fruit cocktail, fresh squeezed tangerine juice, psychedelic grapefruit, when you first enter the dispensary, ethereal pink cherries, and sharing a box of orange creamsicles with your pals.
Fallen Hero - 12.5% Barrel Aged Barley Wine
Brewed with Maris Otter and Crystal malt; hopped with British and American hops; fermented with our British yeast; and aged in freshly emptied bourbon and apple brandy barrels for 26 - 39 months. Pours a beautiful mahogany with a wispy khaki head and has decadent notes of Turkish figs, fermented raisins, graham cracker with toasted marshmallow, spicy bourbon, vanilla, rich malty Maris Otter, some kind of boozey caramel cake, maturity, and a sneaky abv that only the buzzing of your gums reveals.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday to celebrate our 14th anniversary! You are all vital to keeping little breweries like us alive, thank you for 14 magical years, here’s to many more.

New Zealand Pilsner - 5.1%.
Brewed with German Pilsner malt, hopped with New Zealand Motueka, and fermented cold and slow with our favourite lager yeast. We love Pilsners and we love Motueka; this beer feels so right.
It has that lovely Pilsner white toast and cracker character with some homemade bread dough, before bringing the gentle lemony citrus notes of Motueka, with some herbal lime, ground cherry, and pear blossom as well.
Long Walk - 4.7% Bitter - collaboration with @machinehouse .
We’re very stoked to collab with Bill from @machinehouse in Seattle on a nice British Bitter. We mashed in some fine Golden Promise and Crystal malt; and hopped with some Harlequin and Fuggles from @charlesfaram . This was our first time using Harlequin and we are quite pleased with its gentle citrus and noble-like character.
The beer pours a lovely copper color with a light khaki head, and has notes of travelling with an old (but clean) suitcase, medium well pie crust, rustic marmalade, baked pear, earl grey, oak, kumquat, and a perfect moreishness.
West Coast Pilsner - 5.1%.
What does a West Coast Pilsner mean to you? To us it means: quality German Pilsner malt, fruity yet refined American hops, and a cold fermentation profile. To get just that, we brewed this beer with Weyerman Pilsner malt; hopped it in the kettle with Centennial and Strata, and lightly dry hopped it with the same; fermented it on the cool side and lagered it for a few weeks.
The resulting beer has notes of lemonbalm tea, some zippy mandarins, cold pie dough, farro, a solid bitterness, and a dry finish. This one is really perfect for the warming weather.
Our 14th Anniversary Celebration is just a few weeks away and we can’t wait to party with you all! If you’ve ever attended one of our anniversary parties before you know they aren’t to be missed; Family friendly, dog friendly, ALL friendly. It’s a day of music, food, beer, and friends. We are celebrating another year of US, and that means YOU. We couldn’t do this without you all, so come have fun with us.
We have a great lineup of bands this year; some names you may recognize, and some you may not, they all embody the sprit of Forest & Main in one way or another.
Our lineup this year is
Steve Hutchman
Shelf Stable
Dads in the Field
HueMan
G-Force Quartet
Wonka Willy and the Haunted Beer Emporium
IPA Day! Two new ones for you.
Love Ghosts - 6.9% Hazy IPA. This juicy dude was brewed with barley and malted wheat and hopped with tons of Amarillo, Citra, and Mosaic. This one is really bursting with those tropical fruit juice aromatics with notes of wide mouth creamsicles, ripe apricot, sexy mangoes, floral pineapple, golden raspberries, and a cool custard pie.
An Ocean Above - 6.8% West Coast IPA. We brewed this hoppy crusher with malted barley and flaked rice and hopped it with lots of Nelson Sauvin and Chinook - the ol’ “Nelson Nookie” combo. You pull out the ol’ Nelson Nookie combo when you want to feel something, and with the flaked rice taking the body to the ethereal realm, this ale coats your mind with all the fun hoppiness you wanted to feel. We’re getting notes of marijuana cookies, white grape soda, tangerine creamsicle, passion fruit seltzer, and some ponderosa pine.
Baseball Beer - 4.5% Lager
This beer is a near perfect accompaniment to America’s Pastime. It’s a solid crusher you don’t need to think about, but if you want to, it has tons of delicate depth to dive into. We brewed this light lager with quality German Pilsner malt and lots of aromatic Basmati rice; hopped it with a solid charge of Grungeist; and fermented it slow and cold with our favourite lager yeast. The beer opens with an herbal lemon hop character, followed by fluffy boiling rice aromas, and notes of gentle persimmons, wheat crackers, the floral section of the co-op, and thoroughly enjoying rice cakes as a grown adult.
