Check out Project T-Dot @bbishopairport ; Access is free. Stay tuned for the 411 on RRC programming for 2024. #canadianhiphopnation #canadianhiphop #rapcity4ever #rootsrhymescollective

We recently posted our "In the Beginning..." video featuring Maestro Fresh Wes and Saukrates (Pinned at the top of my feed). Since we are getting asked a lot about the Where's Waldo esque photo, I wanted to share some of the references! There were 42 in total, here are 10 of them!

"In the Beginning..." is now live! Featuring Maestro Fresh Wes & Saukrates. Can we ask for a moment of your attention? How familiar are you with breaking? Maybe a little bit, maybe a lot? However much you know… this is just the beginning. A Canadian component to this foundational element of hip hop comes to life through the voice of Maestro Fresh Wes and Saukrates paired with the animation of Robb Klarke. This is a snapshot of a story centered around Bag of Trix, and their journey to international acclaim. Narration - Maestro Fresh Wes & Saukrates Animation - Robb Klarke Directed - Rob Freeman Written - Neil Acharya Sound Design - Saukrates Stay tuned to Canterbury Crescent Filmworks for further updates on our brand new documentary! #BagOfTrix #Breaking #HipHop #CanadianHipHop #CanadianFilm Documentary CanadianDocumentary Filmmaking MaestroFreshWes Saukrates canterburycrescentproductions droptheneedlefollowup

#TBT. In honour of the recent premiere of the “Rock This Town-A New Wave”—a throwback photo of me from the ‘80’s that is in the documentary! Shot by photographer Patrick Wey @patricktwey when I was in college to accompany an article about my community television music series “Videosynchrasies” written by the awesome @coralandrews_kw Quite the throwback to early influences and inspirations. Patrick’s contribution of his tremendous archive of street and entertainment photography is a standout element of the documentary. “Rock this Town-A New Wave” is an important historical audio visual chronicle recounting the edgy music history of my hometown Kitchener-Waterloo, produced by @garywaynestewart and directed by Paul Campsall. The doc features stories of the groundbreaking bands, venues and personalities that created a very unique entertainment ecosystem for our small community. Amazing to have my Videosynchrasies archives (saved for 25 years in the basement of the incredible Jill Heath) digitized and revived to be included in the film—including a student music video project of “Runway” by the Diodes!!! The film is exclusive to the @princesscinemas in Waterloo so be sure to check it out. #newwave #punk #kitchenerwaterloo #canadian

I'm currently digging deep into archival material for our upcoming Bag of Trix / breaking documentary (will have something to share on that in the next few weeks) and during this process, I came across this gem of a TV segment! From the early 1990s in Toronto, no idea what the show is, but the segment features RapCity's creator Michele Geister, a man very important to the Bag of Trix story (and seen in Drop the Needle) DJ Grouch, Matt Sparks (from the pioneer crew Canadian Floor Masters), Chris Albery, and the legend Crazy Legs from the Rock Steady Crew. Any information on this particular segment would be appreciated!

Thanks to @centennialcollege Broadcasting Programme Lecturer @rohanmcleish for inviting me for a fireside chat with his impressive students at the @storyartscentre . It was great to have an on camera conversation with Mackenzie and do a Q&A with attendees. Grateful for the opportunity to share my industry insights and career highlights from both North America and the Caribbean, with the next generation of storytellers. The future is shining bright with the potential of these young men and women. 💎💎💎 PostScript: I sincerely hope something is done to preserve College Arts Programmes. BigUp Rohan for the inspiring work you continue to do. #centennialcollege #toronto #rapcity4ever #canadianhiphop
