The BIG myth we’re debunking TADAY!!
❌ “Whoever pays child support gets to claim the child.”
❌ “Both parents can just claim the same child.”
🚨 Both are FALSE. 🚨
📌The custodial parent is:
👉🏼the parent the child lived with MORE THAN 50% of the year
By default, the custodial parent gets: • Head of Household • Earned Income Credit • Dependent Care Credit
ALL the good stuff 💰
📌The non-custodial parent can claim the child with Form 8332
Form 8332 is:
📝 A written release from the custodial parent
📝 Allowing the non-custodial parent to claim the child
Form 8332 ONLY transfers:
✔️ The Child Tax Credit
✔️ The Other Dependent Credit
It does NOT transfer:
❌ Head of Household
❌ Earned Income Credit
❌ Child & Dependent Care Credit
Those stay with the custodial parent.
📌Only ONE parent per year, per child.
However…
✅ Parents can alternate years
✅ BUT Form 8332 must be signed for each tax year (or clearly state multiple years)

✅ Next you automatically get your Intake Organizer to complete. It will ask you all the things we need to help ensure you get the Credits and Deductions. Those may take a few minutes but you can exit and go back later.
✅Then as you get your documents you can upload them right from your phone via our mobile app. I’ll put link in story to mobile app.
