My Dad was drafted into the US Army in 1971 and served in a mortar platoon in Vietnam. These are his jungle boots from his tour of duty. He survived the war but did not outlive the results of being exposed to a caustic defoliant widely used in country known as Agent Orange. My Dad has been gone for only a few years and I miss him a lot. This has been a very emotional project and one that has helped me feel close to him. Rest easy Dad, you don’t have to fight anymore.
Remembering all who served our country on this Veterans Day.

The film collaboration with @sarahkraning was super special. Here’s a few clips - check out the whole thing on my website or Sarah’s YouTube channel. Color production stills by me and happy to have some behind-the-scenes photos of that day by @fonj . Let me know what questions you have about the project!
As we remember all those who fought for this country on Veterans Day it also coincides with Independence Day in Poland - a stateless country for 123 years until November 11, 1918. As Jon Stewart put it: Democracy is a sack lunch job. We have to be vigilant every day and work at it as there is no guarantee. Now more than ever this rings true. We have work to do.

Limited frames from a roll of Kodacolor II film. This roll was loaded by my Great Aunt Jean sometime in the mid 1970's with the intention to expose twelve frames in her Zeiss Ikonta medium format folding camera. She did not get around to it so nearly 50 years later, I took up the task and helped her complete the roll. Expired film is often a gamble and you don't know what will show up. This is one of 3 frames that turned out.
Taking a moment to honor my Dad on Vietnam War Veterans Day. It’s hard to believe you’ve been gone a month already. The world feels so different without you. Thank you for showing up and always being there for me and so many others in this lifetime. ❤️

Happy to share our latest project 🙌🏻 link in bio 👏🏻: Of the objects we choose to surround ourselves with, there are some that occupy a permanent space alongside us. Feeding into the personalism of interiors or aesthetic choices, and as a physical manifestation of emotional baggage, the things we hold close near the weight of memories and histories all their own - while serving as a direct reflection of our inner.
