Leon Eisermann (*1987) explores the tension between life, death, and the skeleton’s shifting symbolism—from fragility and fear to humor and kitsch. Fragmented, stretched, and obscured, his skeletal figures become mirrors of inner chaos and reflection, tracing the space between mortality and imagination. @fomoplata Memory Foam 25 October - 5 December Viewings by appointment

Leon Eisermann ‘When we have each other we have everything’ November 1 – December 13, 2025 Dracula, gas station, rats, sponge, family, thistle, whirlpool. The paintings: layers upon layers of references — motif, color, technique, format, projection. Watching images all day until they burn into the retina, saved and then printed on foil for the overhead projector, which beams them onto the canvas. It’s all been there before, and it keeps on living, and living, and so on. Pictures made of copies, samples, and loops — mashed together from fragmented parts into a Frankenstein with oil veins and sunglasses. The past says hello to the present and slowly molds away. The reference sits like an afterhour guest at the kitchen table. Ghosts of canvas, captured, stretched on wood, painted over with make-up. The paintings don’t tell a linear story; rather, they reflect the fragmentary nature of thought when trying to reconcile life, death, and everything in between. I think a few of the paintings are still a bit wet (don’t tell Tobias). Sucking culture dry and trying to get the things out of your head that pile up there. I am Dracula and I welcome you to my house. I must apologize for not being here to greet you personally, but I trust you’ve found everything you needed. Leon Eisermann’s paintings delve into this interplay between life, death, and the skeleton’s multifaceted symbolism. In his pictures, skeletons are stretched, distorted, painted upside down, and fragmented, becoming almost unrecognizable. They are not merely anatomical studies but embodiments of internal chaos and existential questioning. These figures are veiled by scratches, marks, and overlapping elements that obscure their forms, creating surfaces that resemble a tangled web of the artists’ own interior monologue. Eisermann’s paintings do not narrate a linear story; instead, they reflect the fragmented nature of thought as one tries to reconcile life, death and the in-between.
