👉🏻 TUUKKA KAILA’s artistic practice spans photography, text, sound and publishing, whilst his work engages questions of abstraction, duration and contextual shifts. Kaila’s works shown at Foto Tallinn are loosely based on a range of common assumptions about photographic representation and global knowledge supply chains.

Foto Tallinn 2026: FOKU Gallery (EE) presenting TANJA MURAVSKAJA (EE)
👉🏻 TANJA MURAVSKAJA is an Estonian artist whose work focuses on questions of identity, social boundaries, and collective and personal memory. Presented at Foto Tallinn, Muravskaja’s Gardens project takes conceptual cues from the surface of seawater — an optical membrane where light, time, and distance become legible. Working with reflection and glare, the series posits water as a real material condition, and the print as a surface where perception takes place. Rather than depicting a garden, the images instead construct an environment for looking, foregrounding the photograph as an object: its materiality, scale, and viewing conditions become central to its meaning.

👉🏻 ROMAN STEN-TÕNISSOO is an Estonian artist and photographer based in Tallinn. His practice focuses on the quest for spirituality and purpose in contemporary society, whilst his cross-media working methods search for spatial moments of dialogue – with the potential to visualise new perspectives.

👉🏻 JOHANNA ADOJAAN is inspired by abstract and magical thinking, intimate aspects of the human experience, and the biological and social drivers of human behavior. At Foto Tallinn, Adojaan’s exhibit consists of 16 black and white photographs taken in Jingdezhen, China, which have been transferred onto translucent porcelain plates.

Tutvustame FOKU uut liiget! Meiega liitus Laura De Jaeger!
Laura De Jaeger (snd 1995) on kunstnik, kes elab ja töötab nii Tallinnas kui Brüsselis. Tema loomingu keskmes on objektid ja paigad, mis on parasjagu puhkeolekus. Neid kogudes ja parafraseerides vaatleb De Jaeger, kuidas neid lugude abil elavdada või ümber kujundada. Ta töötab nii füüsiliste materjalide kui ka tekstide ja kutse-žestidega. De Jaegeril on magistrikraad KU Leuveni Ülikoolist kultuuriteooria erialalt ning LUCA Kunstiülikoolist vabade kunstide erialalt (viimase raames läbis ta ka vahetusõpingud Eesti Kunstiakadeemia skulptuuri- ja installatsiooniosakonnas). Tema töid on eksponeeritud isiku- ja grupinäitustel Belgias, Eestis, Soomes, Saksamaal ja Serbias.

We are happy to introduce a new member of FOKU – Laura De Jaeger!
Laura De Jaeger (b. 1995) is an artist based between Tallinn (Estonia) and Brussels (Belgium). Her practice focuses on objects and sites that are currently resting. Through gathering and paraphrasing, she checks in on ways stories can charge or reshape them. She works with physical materials as well as writing and inviting. De Jaeger holds an MA in fine arts (LUCA), including an exchange at the sculpture and installation department from the Estonian Academy of Arts, and an MA in cultural studies (KU Leuven). Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Germany and Serbia.

Be kind to yourself, but also to everything around you. Honour even the tiniest creature, like an ant or butterfly; everything is here for a reason. Be grateful for forests, birdsong, animals, the sea, the sun, because we are part of each other and we cannot exist without one another. See what you can learn from nature, especially cats.
And don’t worry about maths, it wasn’t my thing either :)”
