Beam me down. Next up is a whole lot of fun I had in cenotes. I'll try and remember which one is which. They were all awesome in their own ways.
Cenote Maravilla.
You can see the hydrogen sulphide cloud rising up through the column of light after being disturbed throughout the day.
If you ever have the opportunity to spend some time in Mexico, dive, snorkel or swim in a cenote. I can't recommend it enough.
This was few weeks after Hurricane Beryl ploughed through the Caribbean and the US. The cenotes of Mexico are often very clear waters, but the hurricane brought a lot of rain and with it run-off into many cenotes. Here at Cenote Jardín Del Eden (Garden of Eden), the water turned a greenish hue from the algae, combined with slight tinting of tannins of the plant material decaying near the surface. A well-timed dive, early morning, to avoid the crowds and to have the Sun penetrate the filtered layers of the cenote. A magical kaleidoscope of colour.

What of the architecture that you hope never needs to be used? Does it matter? Is it architecture? I thought about this for too long, hoping they would have purpose. At least while I was here.

Hierodula patellifera, Giant Asian Mantis.
This guy was just hanging out underwater in the running stream. Not sure if it had accidentally fallen in and was holding on for dear life or was doing something else. It was fine as I pulled it out of the water. It just sat there and cleaned itself off.
