On the 3rd of March, we attended the GM Green Summit. We had the opportunity to speak to many other GM activists and campaigners and share what we are all doing to fight for climate and social justice in our region. However, we were not happy with the choice of location - the Co-op Live. This venue's main sponsor is Barclays, one of the world's biggest fossil fuel funders. According to ActionAid International, between 2016 and 2022, it provided US$29.6 billion in financing for fossil fuel activities in countries in the Global South, with top clients including oil majors ExxonMobil, Shell, BP and TotalEnergies, as well as Adani. We have created a letter directed to Guy Dunstan (General Manager and Senior Vice President of Co-op Live) to ask them to drop Barclays as their sponsor. You can add your name to the letter via this link or by following the link in our bio: /petitions/call-on-co-op-live-manchester-to-end-their-sponsorship-agreement-with-barclays-bank?source=direct_link&

🌲 Today we celebrate the lungs of our planet. Forests don’t just give us oxygen—they’re home to over 80% of terrestrial biodiversity and play a crucial role in fighting climate change. Let’s protect what protects us. 💚 🌱 Plant a tree

Join us for a special screening of ‘Sauvages’ - an animated film about a family fleeing conflict in Borneo’s rainforest. As part of our Planet Over Profit campaign you're invited to a screening of Savages, a PG-rated film about a young girls quest to rescue a baby orangutan from loggers in the Bornean jungle. The film explores themes of deforestation, corporate land grabs, palm oil production and Indigenous land rights. Watch the Sauvages trailer. The film screening will be part of a whole day of family friendly forest inspired events. The folk duo Words from the Willow will be performing earlier in the day, with shows at 11am and 1pm. In between the music and the film there will be a craft session to unleash your most creative woodland self. We hope to see you there! Timings are as follows: 14:00 - Craft session 14:45 - Pre-film talk (introduction to campaign and why we're showing this film) 15:00 - Film 16:30 - Informal post-film discussion Refreshments will be available.
