Mental health is one of the main issues that millions of individuals suffer around the world. This awareness helps to educate about depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and how all of these affect the life's of individuals and how it changes their perspective of life and how they handle life. Allows for the public to see how the perspective of life is. Also provides assistance in breaking down the stereotypes of mental health .The theme known as “ More Good Days Together”, provides campaigns, community outreach's, educational programs & speeches, screenings as well as multiple hotlines for individuals to reach out when they are in need of assistance known was 988 that is available 24/7 and provide assistance for individuals who are in need as well as online assistance . This campaign also pushes for policies to change different rules to help individuals who rely on assistance and to provide affordable mental health care as due to the main issue of individuals not being able to afford it causes for millions to push aside their mental health when in reality it should be their main priority. Ways that you can show your support would be by wearing green, share on social media, and to educate yourself as to how you can assist and provide help for your loved ones. https://nj.gov/mhstigmacouncil/news-and-events/upcoming-events/approved/upcoming-events_archive.shtml Brought to you by: Adult Protective Services of Essex County.

Adult Protective Services works with individuals who are over the age of 18 and older, who cannot protect themselves. Adult Protective services, also known as APS, deal with individuals who are being financially exploited, are dealing with self-neglect, neglect, caregiver overwhelm, physical, and emotional. APS provides support and assistance to individuals who require assistance and cannot provide it for themselves who are able to be a voice for clients who are not able to fight for their rights and their care. Throughout the state of New Jersey there have been over 876,236 cases recorded through the different counties located in New Jersey. Adult Protective services works by first receiving a referral in which a series of questions will be asked to gain further insight as to the situation that is happening and whether it meets the criteria, it’s important to remember that every county has a set of rules as to what cases are appropriate for them if you’re unsure you can always give a call to your local APS agency and they will be able to assist you or guide you in the right information. Also, many APS agencies work with individuals who are in a community setting meaning a private residency or apartment complex. APS will then go out and investigate and see if the information that we had received is true to its standards. From there APS will decide if the client needs cleaning, HHA, Meal delivery services, or in some serious cases guardianship. If you see something it’s always okay to do the right thing and call if you see something say something!, All calls are always anonymous so no need to worry. https://nj.gov/humanservices/doas/services/a-k/aps/ Brought to you by: Adult Protective Services of Essex County

As we celebrate Earth Day, the children had an opportunity to learn about ways to protect and care for the environment. Thank you to Aurelia from the Newark Public Library for organizing the Earth Day event with the Family Success Center families. The kids truly enjoyed the planting activity and the reading session. Your effort and dedication made the event both educational and memorable.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month: SAAM is observed every April around the United States as well as around the world. This month-long campaign helps to raise public awareness about sexual violence and this helps to educate the community on prevention and to support survivors of sexual assault, harassment and abuse. The campaign offers resources, toolkits places where you can go to report any situation, the right agencies to reach out to and organizations who may offer support. This month also helps the victims who are scared to motivate them to come forward to know that there is people out there who are willing to hear their stories, that are willing to let them know that they matter and that they have the support that they need. Ways that you can assist as the community is to share resources on social media or spread the word throughout the community. Brought to you by : Adult Protective Services of Essex County.
