HARK! BEHOLD! I present thee with images from the wee Bards With Blades taster, devised and performed by myself and @nicolas_a_castillo for Poway Shakespeare as part of the 14th Annual San Diego International Fringe Festival previews on Tuesday night. I had a blast sharing this little vignette with the audience. Shoutout to Nicolas for choreographing the fight (and basically giving me a free stage combat workshop in the course of our rehearsing). And I’m deeply impressed by Mikey Prine’s ability to capture such dynamic shots from a bit that lasted roughly a minute 📸 @focusedonfringe
Bards With Blades opened at Old Poway Park last night, which means you still have five chances left to judge our play-and see some sword-swinging! ⚔️ Don’t miss the inaugural production of Poway’s brand new professional theatre company, Poway Shakespeare! 🎠@powayshakespeare
It was a beautiful evening to kick off the 14th Annual San Diego International Fringe Festival! Here are a few quick pics of some shows I’m excited to see! Many MANY more photos to come!
Looking forward to a night of 2026 Fringe Previews! Here’s an image from every show at the 2025 SDIFF.

One cannot overstate the importance of Kata Pierce-Morgan to San Diego Fringe. She not only offers her, now THREE, venues in Lincoln Park (New Destiny, No Limits, Golden Corpse), but year after year she choreographs some of the most entertaining performances at Fringe, hosted at her venue “Les Girls”. These photos are from the 2024 performance of “No Regrets.”
When Fringe says BYOV (Bring Your Own Venue), Steve Sanders not only brings it, but DELIVERS the show where the audience is calling! Here are a few shots from the Grassy Knoll at SDIFF 2024.

Difficult lighting scenarios often lend the most opportunity for creativity. As such, “Dad, Playboy, & Me” was a surprise favorite of mine at the 2024 SDIFF. A wonderful story of love, loss… and photography! The memories that can be sparked by a single image often say far more than 1.000 words.

I first met @theatregroupgumbo during their 2022 run of “Are You Loving It” here in Sam Diego. To say I could post 100 photos of hilarious expressions and contortions from their performances is a gross understatement, but here are a few from their 2024 run of “Forest of Truth”. I look forward to seeing Nono, Kayo, and Ryo again next week at @sdfringe !

One of my favorite performers in all of Fringe! Karen’s performance of “Delusions & Grandeur” is the perfect blend of “I can totally relate” and “Damn, I wish I were that talented!” Fortunately for the arts community, she’s the creative force behind a number of Fringe worthy shows. I hope she’ll grace us with another soon! These photos are from her 2023 SDIFF run.

As an artist who studies light, what better match than a performer whose show lives in it. Daniel Nodder’s “Only Bones” absolutely blew me away at the 2024 San Diego International Fringe Festival. An award winning performance all the way from New Zealand.
