Bringing tradition from the Philippines to California, Francis San Diego practices the pre-colonial Filipino hand-tapping tattoo art known as Batok — a sacred process rooted in ancestry, identity, and cultural preservation.
Each piece is created through intentional collaboration, using indigenous patterns and symbols that reflect the story and lineage of the person wearing it. More than just tattooing, Batok is a connection to heritage.
Through every hand-tapped session, Francis creates a space that is grounded, personal, and culturally rooted, blending tradition with modern expression while keeping the spirit of the practice alive.
