Getting carried away doesn’t mean missing your flight or spiraling. It just means the airport part stops feeling like a chore. It’s that moment when you realize you’re… calm? You sit down with coffee instead of speed-walking. You check the time and think, wait, the trip already started? That’s very SMF. Things just work here. It’s easy to get in, easy to get through, easy to breathe. You’re not bracing yourself. You’re not annoyed yet. You’re not in survival mode. So you loosen up. You linger. You grab another coffee. You get carried away. Other airports keep you stressed. SMF gives you space. The light. The layout. The pace. The fact that you’re not immediately overwhelmed for no reason. You don’t plan to get carried away at SMF. It just kind of… happens. ✈️☕️

New year, new SMF commercial ✨ Every year, we roll out a brand new commercial and this one is officially stepping into the spotlight. You’ll start seeing it on TV and showing up in the wild soon, but today you’re getting the very first look at our newest campaign, Carried Away. There are airports for flying out of. Then there are airports for getting carried away. We hope you like it 💙✈️

✨ Something big is taking off at SMF. ✨ Our concessions team has been hard at work creating a dining program built around what travelers want most, variety, convenience, and a true taste of Sacramento. We’re bringing in 13 new dining options and thousands of fresh flavors, with so many beloved local restaurants joining the lineup. Being at SMF will feel like a delicious snapshot of our amazing city. 🍴 A few will open later this year, with the full program landing in 2026. The future of airport dining and Sacramento flavor is about to take off. More details coming soon.

Okay but can we talk about our new box truck for a second 🥹✈️💙 She’s cute. She’s blue. She's 100% electric. She’s doing important airport things (and looking good doing it).

Sacramento Executive Airport Aviators Restaurant Update✈️
(Sacramento Executive is our sister airport, operated by the same Sacramento County Department of Airports team that runs SMF.)   We want to share an update on Aviators Restaurant at Sacramento Executive Airport. As we reported earlier this year, the Department of Airports began planned construction and upgrades inside the restaurant, including a new kitchen floor as part of ongoing facility improvements. During construction, previously unseen structural problems were identified beneath the flooring.   Inspections revealed significant issues within the restaurant space, including deteriorating flooring, water intrusion, and underlying structural damage. Further evaluation uncovered mold in multiple areas, asbestos from legacy flooring materials, which must be fully remediated before the area can be occupied. Inspections also found compromised concrete reinforced by deteriorating rebar beneath the kitchen floor.   Engineering assessments determined that repairs would require removal of damaged materials and reconstruction of the affected foundation, including locating and tying into at least 18 inches of uncompromised rebar. Estimates indicate the work could take up to two years to complete.  We’re working closely with Chik and will continue to share updates as we have them. We all want the same thing – to have a restaurant that is safe and healthy for Chik, his staff, and his loyal and dedicated customers. Contrary to recent posts on NextDoor and other social media sites, Airports and Chik are working closely together to develop a solution. We will update the community as soon as we come to a mutually beneficial decision. Thank you for your patience and for supporting this special airport and restaurant!✈️

Not every disability is visible 🌻 SMF participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, a free and voluntary program that helps travelers discreetly signal they may need a little extra time, patience or support while navigating the airport. The sunflower lanyard or sticker lets airport staff know you may have a non-visible disability, condition or neurodivergence. ✔️ Free for travelers and companions ✔️ Keep and reuse for future trips ✔️ Recognized at airports around the world ✔️ Does not provide expedited TSA screening, but helps staff better support you 📍 Pick up a sunflower lanyard or sticker at the Information Booths in Terminal A and Terminal B. 📬 Lanyards can also be mailed free of charge to passengers in the greater Sacramento area before their trip. To request one, email [email protected] Because air travel should feel a little easier for everyone ✈️ Learn more: /
