The RAF achieves its mission through the efforts of volunteers like yourself. Check out the “Volunteer” link in our bio to get an idea of what we’re all about. You don’t need to be a pilot or an aircraft owner, just somebody willing to help. By joining team RAF, you directly support the RAF mission, and most certainly will forge new friends along the way! . . . . Thank you to @voortexproductions for making this incredible video. #flyraf #whyifly #backcountrypilot #volunteer #volunteerlife #generalaviation #generalaviationnews #aviation #aviationlovers #pilot #pilotlife #aviationdaily #aviationgeek #instagramaviation

"What is the RAF?" We are pilots, aviation enthusiasts, conservationists... We are passionate about recreational aviation and backcountry flying... Most of all, we work tirelessly to create, preserve, and improve airstrips for recreational access... for you and for the generations to come! We could go on about who we are, what defines us, and what we do, but thanks to @voortexproductions , we don't have to :). Check out this trailer for "The RAF Way" documentary, the full video is available to view at our website! . . . . . . . . #FlyRAF #airplanecamping #airplaneadventures #generalaviation #whyifly

Spring work party season is in full swing ✈️ A dozen RAF supporters gathered at Olympic Field (WA45) in Washington, led by Washington Liaison Ray Ballantyne. The crew thinned trees to create 500 feet of buck and rail fencing for runway safety, trimmed around runway lights, and even refinished a large table and chairs for the camping area. Great weather, great company, and a whole lot accomplished. Thank you to everyone who came out 🙌

A great weekend at Great Valley Airport (N56) in New York ✈️ Coordinated by NY Liaison Doug Turnbull, the crew tackled seasonal maintenance, brush removal, and installed a brand new RAF windsock. Special thanks to the airfield owner for fueling the work party with donuts, coffee, and lunch from the adjacent Katy's Fly-In restaurant. Huge thanks to the NY crew for showing up and getting it done 🙌

✈️ The RAF welcomes Utah + Wyoming Ambassador Karen Larson! Karen brings an incredible aviation background to the role, currently a United Airlines 787 Dreamliner First Officer by day and a backcountry flying enthusiast by heart. She was re-introduced to general aviation in 2017, and soon after caught the tailwheel bug and hasn't looked back since. Now living nomadically between Utah and Wyoming with her husband William, she's already been deep in the trenches volunteering at airstrip clean-ups and RAF events. We're thrilled to have her on the team!

California Ambassador Howie Bohl took the stage at Fullerton Airport, delivering a mountain flying and RAF presentation to a crowd of 50-60 pilots. Events like this are how we grow our community and educate on backcountry aviation. Thanks for representing the RAF, Howie!

What a weekend at Siletz Bay State Airport in Oregon! A crew of 27 volunteers showed up clearing debris, leveling campsites, replacing picnic tables and fire rings, treating invasive plants, spreading gravel, and even building a firewood shed to protect donated wood from coastal weather. The best part? They knocked out two days of work in just one! Huge thanks to everyone who made the trip out, this is what the RAF community is all about 🙌 📸 credit: Sonia Bynum
