Precision LLC and Pureflight Aviation Training LLC are honored to sponsor this year’s Vertical Reference/External Load Training Scholarship. This prestigious opportunity will allow a deserving Whirly-Girl to travel to the Pacific Northwest for hands-on instruction in vertical reference flying, along with an introduction to turbine engines. Our goal is to support a Whirly-Girl who aspires to enter the utility sector, helping her take the next step toward building her skills and career. This scholarship, valued at $30,645, encompasses up to 7 nights of accommodation, 5 hours of ground instruction, and 10 hours of flight instruction in an AS350. Training will be conducted at the Precision LLC base of operations in McMinnville, Oregon. Requirements: The applicant must be a helicopter pilot with at least a Private pilot certificate/license (or foreign equivalent), a Class III medical certificate and a minimum of 500 hours total time in helicopters. No turbine time or type experience is necessary. These requirements must be met at the time of application submission. If a foreign license holder, the applicant must also hold a valid FAA license verification letter from AFB 720 that will cover the entirety of the course to be attended. Non-US citizens must obtain US Department of Homeland Security TSA approval (Category 1 or 2) prior to receiving any flight instruction. Transportation, visa (if required) will be the responsibility of the applicant She must be a member in good standing at the time of application submission, award of scholarship, and during scholarship training, and must have joined the Whirly-Girls no later than September 22, 2025. NEW PRESS RELEASE: Pureflight Experiences Busiest Year in 40 Years Pureflight Aviation Training has a rich aviation history. Originally established in 1983 as Precision Aviation Training, Pureflight has been providing intentional training and real-world preparation to helicopter and airplane students for decades, offering big school quality with small school culture. 2024 has been the busiest year in the school’s history, and 2025 is looking strong to build on this growth and success. In 2015, Pureflight became the first school in the U.S. to operate the Cabri G2, and with over 20,000 flight hours flown and hundreds of pilots trained – they remain the largest and most experienced school in the country on this airframe. “Owning a flight school is a high-risk endeavor; by its very nature, the most inexperienced pilots will be training, and inevitably making mistakes, in your aircraft with your employees,” says Alison Plummer, owner and general manager of Pureflight. “The safety record, reliability, and modern made-for-training design of the G2 helps make this emotionally feasible.” Ben and Alison Plummer purchased Pureflight in 2020 but have been integral in its operation since 2012. With two young daughters, combined decades of experience in both the maintenance and business aspects of aviation, and undeniably adventurous spirits, the Plummers knew they could continue building the flight school into something special.
