*Amazing* seeing @jobyaviation ’s N545JX #evtol land at the @flyblade lounge at W. 30th Street heliport today (Apr. 27), as #Joby completes NYC’s first-ever point-to-point eVTOL flights - from JFK to Manhattan - this week. 🛸♻️
And yes, it’s true - the aircraft is *ridiculously* quiet! 🤫
Go Team Joby 💫
Quick example of how FlyJets works and can help to easily share flights with (old & new) friends and family. 🛸
Also, some great North —> South empty legs on the app for the next few days. Have a great weekend!
What a bird! ♻️🛸
Some 📷’s from a recent visit to @electra.aero ’s HQ in Washington, D.C.
Electra’s forthcoming EL9 is an ultra short hybrid-electric aircraft capable of carrying nine passengers with 50 lbs of baggage each - or 3,000 lbs of cargo - on trips between 50 and 500 nautical miles (which is well more than needed to travel from, for example, New York to Boston).
The kicker: the EL9 requires only 150 feet of runway space to takeoff and land - so, less than the length of a football field. The acoustics emitted by the aircraft are comparable to those associated with road traffic, and it maintains a 40% lower fuel burn vs. comparable aircraft on an average 100-mile route.
Electra’s system also works with sustainable aviation fuels (#SAF) and, in the future, will be compatible with hydrogen for zero-emission flight.
Happy #EarthDay 🌎
Electra EL9 Ultra-Short Specs, per Electra:
• Ferry Range: 1,100 nm + 45 min reserve
• Capacity: 9 pax + 50 lbs baggage each (or 3,000 lbs cargo)
• Cruise speed: 175 ktas ( ~201 mph), which is 5x faster than average ground vehicle speed
• Takeoff and landing footprint: 150 foot ground roll
• Acoustics: 75 dBA at 300 feet at takeoff (comparable to road traffic); billed as 100x quieter than traditional vertical lift aircraft
• Emissions: 40% lower fuel burn vs. comparable aircraft on an average 100-mile route. Electra’s system works with sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and can eventually use hydrogen for zero-emissions flight
• Battery specs: Batteries can charge in flight or on the ground
• Operating Costs: 70% lower operating costs vs. traditional vertical lift aircraft
