What is character tax? (when it comes to buying merch) 💰
Some people didn't really understand the concept of characters being more expensive on the aftermarket and it's pretty simple supply and demand! The more popular a character is, the more popular their secondhand merch will be. This can end up being really extreme for some series, and less noticeable in others.
If it's a blind series, you can bet the aftermarket is gonna suck for people with desirable faves 😭

Lumikha Cosplay Resale turns 5 years old this year! 🥳🎉
What started as an idea in 2019, then founded in 2021, has grown into a thriving marketplace with $60,000+ in cosplay resale, 4,600+ listings, and 5,000+ users.
But keeping Lumikha online comes with real costs: $350/month for hosting and essential tools. For most of the past five years, I’ve covered this personally.
