I've been getting much better at using masking to recover/improve photos that I take in poor lighting, and I'm particularly proud of this one.
This is a juvenile bald eagle (possibly female) that I photographed during a riverboat ride with my fiancee and her family!
I finally did it! After about a month or two of going out and trying to find it -- I finally got images of this albino deerling in my area!
I'm so excited -- I just wanted to edit the images and post them! I wanted to make a whole post with facts about albino-ism and deer, but I was just too excited to wait! So here they are, in all of their beauty!

Last Saturday's show was a blast -- thanks to all of you who attended! The video is now posted on our website along with the associated article, so you can share it with family and friends. Everything you need to know about the upcoming solar and lunar eclipses -- now in blog form! We've added resources from the "inthesky" website, where you can find out exactly when you can see these eclipses in your area. We also have added a resource that will help you make an eclipse box for the solar eclipse if you can't find any solar glasses.

EDIT: It was pointed out to me by a friend that these are, infact, carpenter bees! The yellow mark on the head of the flying bee is an indication that it is indeed a male. I'm not sure if the other reasons (abdominal and antennae segments) hold true for carpenter bees.
Apparently, based on the segments in the abdomen (seven segments), the bumble bee in the first three images is a male. He just kind of hovered there the entire time (several minutes and several dozens of photos). He really wanted his picture taken!
The third image is one of the more exciting ones to me, because the wing on his left was captured frozen in mid-flutter! I'm not really sure what the yellow-bit on his head is. Based on what I've read, I believe the mouth is below this marking. It might just be the colouring of that part of the head -- I'm genuinely not too sure.
The fourth image is another bumblebee that was chilling very close by. Based on the segments on it's antennae (less than thirteen), it might be a female. It looked like they were tusseling before I started taking images and this one landed and didn't move much. I'm sure she's fine >.>

I went on a solo nature outing today and took the camera to practice ISO and shutter speed setting and wanted to share my favourite pictures of some of the friends I met!
One of my favourite things about fall time is apple cider! So, Becca and I spent the last few hours making home-made apple cider largely from her parents apple tree! It came out incredible and I can now add it to my list of festive, home-made beverages and foods!!
