I’ve been looking back at these photos from @flxaframe by the Seneca Lake and honestly, I just want to be back. It’s so hard to find a place that’s actually designed well—with those huge A-frame windows and brass details—but doesn’t make you feel guilty for bringing a dog along.
Our mornings there started exactly like this: making coffee using local beans provided by the wonderful hosts, Lauren and Dustin, watching the fog lift off the trees, and just chilling out in that big, open living room. It’s one of those spots where you can just breathe.
We’d spend the days wandering through the wineries nearby (some are literally 4 min drive away!) and hiking the gorge at Watkins Glen, but the best part was always coming back here. It felt less like a rental and more like a quiet hideaway where we could actually slow down for a second. Play board games, enjoy local wine, read. And Astrid definitely didn’t mind having a whole deck to herself, either. She napped there each afternoon 🤭
If you’re looking for a dog-friendly getaway in the Finger Lakes that has a bit of soul to it, this is the one!

Reflecting today on the building process of our little @flxaframe . Would you believe it’s been 3 years since I took this video?? I was having a conversation with someone I hadn’t seen in a while, and she asked me if we had finally finished our construction labor of love. I got to smile and say yes, finally. 🙂 And better yet, I got to tell her that we’ve been open for exactly one and a half years already.. and that it’s going well as well. 🥳
Despite the heaviness of the times of the world, we’ve been able to hold onto such joy in sharing our A-frame with our lovely, lovely guests. We’ve received such nice feedback so far. Really helps make the thousand year construction process less painful to think about, lol.

Normally, we particularly enjoy celebrating this holiday at one of the many wineries near the A-frame. Like @j.r.dill , @rednewtcellars , @3broswine , @atwaterwine , @damianiwinecellars , @wagnervineyards … and the list goes on and on. We just like to celebrate 🍷 a lot. 😂

When it came to this gigantic project, my husband was always willing to give an opinion if I asked. But, for the most part, he left me alone in these spaces. He trusted me to do what I envisioned.
Although, there was a whole month there that he did give me a real hard time about putting an air fryer in the kitchen, lol.

Happy snowy February! When times are heavy, I typically like to get away. Maybe escapism isn’t the most healthy, but I’m okay with it for now.
Though days are cold here in the Northeast, at least there are beautiful and good times to be had in the Finger Lakes. If I’m going to be cold, let me at least be surrounded by award winning wineries, and amazing small businesses that care about their community, you know?
And the @flxaframe happens to be just a stones throw away from dozens of them. Some of the best 🍷 and 🍺 and 🧀 that I’ve ever had, and it’s all just in an easy afternoon.
What’s even better than that, is that when you’re done with 🍷 ing, you get to come back and curl up in a cozy A-frame. Sit around the fireplace with your friends and family. Enjoy each others company. And escape for just a tiny bit.
