Florida Forever is at risk, and we need your action now!
As lawmakers finalize the state budget in the upcoming special session, the House proposal proposes $0 in funding for Florida Forever, while the Senate proposes $50 million and limits it to private land easements.
These proposals block the public land acquisition that has defined this premiere land conservation program for the last 25 years.
Once wild places are lost, they’re gone for good. Florida is growing fast, and our public lands should grow too.

We need your action again for Florida Forever!
Negotiations began this week in Tallahassee to finalize the state budget, yet recent proposals still undermine Florida Forever’s ability to create new public lands. The House proposal includes $25 million in funding for Florida Forever, while the Senate proposes $75 million and limits it to private land easements only.
Florida is growing fast, and saving wild Florida for every Floridian to hike, camp, fish, hunt, and paddle is crucial.
Thank you to thousands who have already spoken up for Florida Forever this session. We need that momentum to continue today as we now ask you to reach out to Senator Hooper and Representative McClure.

Florida is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife found nowhere else on Earth. But as our state continues to grow, many species face increasing threats from habitat loss, fragmentation, and development.
The endangered Key deer is just one example of how unique and fragile Florida’s ecosystems can be. Found only in the Florida Keys, their population is estimated at just 700–800 individuals. Protecting habitat is critical to ensuring Florida's wildlife continue's to thrive.
This Endangered Species Day, join us in standing up for Florida’s wildlife and the wild places that keep these species alive. 💚

ACTION ALERT‼️ Starting TODAY, the Florida Legislature is convening to negotiate the 2026-2027 state budget. A critical budget line item for Florida’s wildlife and natural areas is Florida Forever. Since 2000, Florida Forever has been the State’s premier public land buying program, which has set aside around 1 million acres of land for conservation. As development pressure increases across the State, conservation lands are more important than ever.
Unfortunately, the Florida Senate budget proposes only $50 million for private land acquisition and the Florida House budget proposes $0 for Florida Forever. In the past, this program has received at least $100 million per year. We need your help to tell Florida’s legislators to fund Florida Forever! Please visit the link in our bio to complete @flwildfed ’s action alert 📩🗣️
Florida Forever has protected millions of acres of wildlife habitat, springs, forests, and public lands across our state. But right now, its future is at risk.
As lawmakers finalize the state budget, proposals in both chambers would drastically weaken Florida’s premier land conservation program and block the public land acquisitions that have defined Florida Forever for the past 25 years.
Florida is growing fast, and once these wild places are lost, they’re gone for good.
Take action today with the link in our bio and urge lawmakers to fully fund Florida Forever for public land protection.
