checked out king’s kitchen in flushing and this spot is the definition of comfort cantonese food. we started with their 3 roasted meats appetizer and every meat was sooo tender and flavorful. for the mains, we got their claypot rice with 3 meat options and loved how comforting and satisfying it was. their soup dumplings were filled with so much soup and i loved how thin and tender the skin was, literally perfect. the beef brisket noodles were also such a hit — the beef was super tender and the broth had so much flavor. they also offer dim sum items so i already know i’ll be back to try more. also love how spacious the restaurant is, perfect for solo meals but also great for bigger groups too.

Tran Treats and I finished the crawl with spicy cumin burgers. They were so flavorful and only $7.50 each 😭✨

The long wait is finally over! So happy I finally got to try the famous Chonqing Lao Zao. Their 9 pot hot pot is such a unique experience that I never thought I’d get to try outside of China. Each partition has a different temperature so it allows you to time different items accordingly while cooking. Honestly it was just nice not to have my food lost in a large pit of broth, and pretty fun too. Service and ambiance was outstanding.

After seeing lines out the door, I had to see for myself if it was worth it. Luckily looks are deceiving because the wait time isn’t as bad as it seems as the turn around time is pretty quick. Only waited about 20 minutes even with a mob inside. The claypot is soo good and I was really surprised by how soft the meat was. Also the pickled veggies that you can serve yourself is absolute crack! The perfect spice and acidity needed for the dish.
