Some stories carry more than meaning, they carry strength, hope, and purpose.
At this year’s Waves For Ohana Fundraiser, we’re honored to share one of those stories.
Last year, when Skylar was admitted to UCLA Hospital in a very serious condition after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, each day became a fight.
Every morning, he and his dad would walk the hospital halls step by step, building strength, holding onto hope.
What kept him going? A poster.
A surf poster that inspired him daily. A reminder of the ocean, of freedom, of getting back to what he loved.
That poster reads: “Surf for a Cure.”
And it was created by none other than the legendary John Van Hamersveld, the iconic designer behind some of the most recognizable artwork of all time.
This year, John will be with us signing that very poster.
For a donation, you can take home more than just art. You take home a piece of resilience,a symbol of aloha spirit, and a story that represents what it truly means to keep going.
