New research on our website - a snapshot of the charging models at Museums and Galleries across the UK in 2024. As schools and the cultural sector face a challenging economic climate, @nationalportraitgallery asked Flow Associates to undertake research into current charging models for school visits across the museum and gallery sector to inform their own work. They have kindly agreed for us to share a summary of the research to support the sector as a whole in understanding the approaches taken by organisations to ensure both equitable access to cultural education, and the drivers for financial sustainability.

A very wet but enjoyable day with the Learning team @theroyalparks Hyde Park for Green Futures. London schools work over the course of a year to carry out conservation in the Royal Parks. The hardy students really enjoyed the day, collecting bugs from the meadow, planting wild flowers and building a "dead hedge" from brambles they cleared.
A joyous celebration of the fantastic @curatingforchange fellows at @iwmlondon . @screen.south worked with 20 partner museums supporting 8 Deaf, disabled and neurodiverse emerging curators to create exhibitions exploring disability through their collections. Really inspiring and so proud to have been involved.
We made a trip to @young.vam with the fam to see how the mini Flow-ers found it. They loved it, as did the grown ups. The interpretation, displays and design is spot on - but what really made the difference is the 'vibe'. We were warmly greeted on the way in and you could tell that every single element was designed with young people in mind.
I loved how it felt V&A-ish and demonstrated the power of design upstairs, that we got to see a fashion designer working in the residency studio ( a big moment for our 6 yo) and a material library, which is something we talked about for years at the V&A.
Go visit, with little uns or not so little...it's great.

Flow spent the day with some of the Royal Parks' hardiest new recruits in the rain as part of their Green Futures. We're evaluating Green Futures, now in its second phase, a deep engagement project to build young people's relationships with their local green spaces, embed conservation in the curriculum and provide students with practical skills and career insights.
Flow evaluated this project for its first two year phase, creating recommendations to help shape the programme in its latest incarnation. Supported by Kusuma Trust.
Last week we had our final session with the incredible Emerging Producers @turnercontemporary where we've been mentoring them in experience design and evaluation. Over the last year they've worked with the gallery to learn about working in the arts and have applied that into the amazing O'Dreamland space. What an experience for them and rightfully, they were incredibly proud of what they've achieved.

Turner Prize 2023 - Jesse Darling's assemblage work stood out for me as a coy look at British folklore, national decay and stubborness, whilst Barbara Walker's portraits of Windrush immigrants had real power in their story and execution.
