“Late Bloomers Still Rise (Live)”
RELEASE DATE: 09/08/2025
PRE SAVE AND FOLLOW NOW: https://kycker.ffm.to/lbsrl (or, linktr.ee/floralpattern)
Recorded by @soundhumansuk
Mixed and Mastered by Karl Junga (@kjammrecords )
Recorded on the 11th of January 2025 in Wirksworth, Derbyshire at the Feather Star to a live audience, “Late Bloomers Still Rise (Live)” is FLORAL PATTERN’s first release to date.
The ethos behind releasing a Live EP first is to tear open the mental barriers of perfectionism that comes along with making music in the studio. The performances here are raw, authentic, and are the next best thing to being in the audience on the night.
The EP will be released to all platforms on 09/08/2025, alongside a release party on the same date at Dubrek Studios, Derby. More details to follow.
Hopefully these compositions and live performances warm you now the same way they did back in January.
Mylie x

One week to go and here’s a clip of Derby’s @flor.alpattern to get you in the zone.
Led by tenor saxophonist Mylie Noble, Floral Pattern are a powerful new presence on the Midlands jazz scene. Blending composed and improvised elements with vibrant layers of electronics, their music rises to euphoric, dance-driven climaxes that energise both band and audience.
Born out of the ‘Greenhouse’ improvised jazz-fusion jam sessions in Derby, the group draws on a strikingly broad range of influences — from the spiritual intensity of Pharoah Sanders to the contemporary groove of Ezra Collective and the electronic edge of Nerve — positioning them firmly at the cutting edge of UK jazz. Expect virtuosic playing, psychedelic textures, deep grooves, and above all, music that demands movement…
inspired to post by @harbenkay go see their amazing improv!
just some shruti box improvisation for this evening, testing out some new recording setups. I find it uncomfortable recording in my little derby flat so hopefully theres some good opportunities to get outside and do this in the weeks to come.
shruti box is playing Cmaj7 without the G, im thinking about more floaty sounds which tends to sit with the #4maj7 sound. i love how comfortable this sound is to sit in for a long time (hence the long ass reel). I’ll do some crunchier stuff soon enough :)

More specifically Haggler’s Corner this Thursday.
We’ll have your eyes and ears for the entire evening. TWO sets of crying in the club infused jazz. Mixtures of originals and fully improvised tunes. Music for your soul (sole?)and your feet. Maybe a few extra technical bits to try out and play with. Who knows, maybe a special guest or two to jam with us?
All the homies playing this one:

A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us, but this year was not our year for Tramlines. Congratulations to all the wonderful artists that will be playing!
This has all left me with a lot of big feelings to deal with - Filling out applications every year and never hearing a response is quite tough. But being shortlisted for Tramlines is the closest we have been to FP on the BIG stage.
BUT floral pattern IS playing Tramlines fringe at Alder Bar with a curated jazz focused lineup (pretty cool). Here's all of the amazing gigs we have lined up too.
Don't forget to wear a hat sometimes. xoxo mylie #tramlines #rickastley #jazz #festivalapplication #bandapp

📆 Thursday April 23rd 2026 ⏰ 7:30PM 📍 Hagglers Corner 🔗 Tickets via link in bio
Floral Pattern is a 6-piece alt-jazz band, with music to induce psychedelic aura. Incredible musicians straight out the midlands, providing euphoric jazz that builds and builds. Each member has elite talent on their instrument that feeds together to make something really special, a funk jazz groove that drives with unique rhythm, responding to each other’s musicality for a truly unique performance.
This intimate gig in the Attikk is Floral Pattern’s return to Hagglers Corner, and not one to miss.
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
Shoutout to all the incredible women making music (and Jazz). The world is much better with you in it, even with the systemic problems that still exist in the music industry (and specifically Jazz-bro culture).
1. Jazz Musicians Look Like This. They are women unafraid to express themselves on and off stage, with people around them supporting and advocating for them constantly. They play instruments, produce, compose, sing, promote, book acts, do all the finances that come along with being a musician. Noone can get away with being just one thing in today’s music industry.
2. PROMOTERS AND VENUES!!!! Are you booking women year round, instead of just token all-female lineups once a year? Are they as diverse in their acts as they are in real life? Do you have women DJs, Instrumentalists, HEADLINERS!!!! Are you paying them?
3. Jazz-bros. Women aren’t just there to sing. Get off the keys or kit for a bit. Put the horn down and make some space.
4. Jam runners (traditional or not). Do women feel actively supported to not just show up, but also get up and play? What plans do you have in place for if someone experiences harassment? Is your jam a safe space for women?
5. Traditional music not traditional values.
6. Again to the jam runners. If you play tunes, are any of the ones you play regularly composed by women. Berklee released a fantastic resource of 101 new standards composed by women. Make sure you play these tunes year round instead of just once on international womens day.
And that’s probably it I can think of for now. There’s a whole lot wrong with the music industry, but we can influence and control the grassroots (which, lets be honest most of us are and will be for a while) and then tackle the bigger stuff like Man gatekeepers later…
