We finished Vibrantea almost two years ago now, and I haven’t shared much about it here.
I think I needed some distance after being so close to it for so long, to really see it for what it is. I’m really happy to finally share some of my favorite backgrounds and moments from it.
While designing the world, I wanted it to feel alive, like a character itself, something that could echo Lynn’s emotional journey. It starts more muted and melancholic, and gradually opens into a more vibrant impressionistic world as her inner world shifts.
It was definitely challenging to figure out, but it became one of the most personal and defining parts of the film for me.

Animation is a labor of love and an act of continued faith. After two and a half years of production, 17,000 hand-drawn frames of 2D animation, and an incredible festival run, “Vibrantea” is out in the world and ready to be seen!
