Our tiny little lamb is a Soay x. He is absolutely tiny. He is a twin but the other lamb is still with mum whereas this little lad is being bottle raised. A lot of Soay ewes will leave their lambs in long grass or hiding somewhere when they go off to graze without them. Elouise had collected one of the lambs but not this one. It was going dark and due to rain. With him being so tiny we decided to bring him in. He is so small that he is having to be fed using a human newborn baby bottle and teat as the lamb teats are too big. He weighs 1.1kg. #lambspam #lambing2026 #lambing #lambsofinstagram #soaysheep

TIDDLES UPDATE Tiddles seems to have recovered well from Sepsis but it has left him with some neurological damage making him a bit uncoordinated when walking and running. We had been working on this and he had made great progress (see videos). He has 2 lots of 10 minutes in the harness standing in his pen so it holds his weight in case he cant hold himself up on his legs. Unfortunately over the weekend he sustained an injury to one of his back legs which has set him back a little. But, this is getting better now so I am hoping by the end of the week he will be back to where he was a week ago with his walking. It looks like he will need splints on his front legs as not using them much over the past month has left the ligaments a little contracted so his front legs dont stretch out straight under him as they are supposed to. We have been doing physio on them and he can carry his weight on them now, he doesn't straighten the knees meaning it is not so easy for him to walk. We will do another visit to see Vicky the vet to see which type of splint is best for him. I'd rather go with a soft splint first rather than go for the pots splints they usually put on lambs with bendy legs. #sheep #farmlife #lambs

The goats seem happy in their new paddock, though they don't much like the 6ft fence stopping them from roaming around the village. We have a lot to do in there over the next few months in terms of extending their shelter, making a covered hay station, making some sort of playground for them with platforms, brushes etc. Now lambing has slowed down with just a few possible more ewes left to lamb, we have some fencing to do but have already got a load if wood for making the goat area more interesting. We can start working on on the goat additions between the fencing jobs.

I know a lot of people loved Chance's long mane, but I do love a show cob, all clipped out and mane hogged/roached/shaved off. I think he looks so smart like this. I don't know if I will keep it short or if I will let it grow again, but his mane grows so quickly that I won't have long to wait if I want it long again. People used to tell me not to do this to Lizzie, but when I did everyone said how amazing she looked and how much it suited her. I knew it would suit Chance. And as for Sparky, from a distance he looks like he is a big 17hh hunter now 🤣 I am not showing his legs because I need to finish them off. I needed my trimmers to do his legs. I'd worn the battery out on my tiny trimmers and forgot to charge my bigger trimmers. I also need to give them both a bath and go over them again. The water supply here is erratic to say the least, so it was easier to clip them both then I can use less water to bath them and go back over them again to tidy the clip up after. As they are my clippers and my blades I'm blunting not bathing them first, and I don't need them looking perfect just yet, I decided this way around would work best for me. #coblet #cob #pony #horses

Petsy is enjoying the sunny days with the one lamb she has left on her. The other two are being bottle raised. We tried leaving two on her but it was too much. She is very happy to still have a lamb to love. She is such a good mum and if any lambs are on their own for too long, she goes over to them and ushers them back toward their mums 💜 Petsy is the Matriarch of the flock, and the most loving mother any lamb could ever ask for. #jacobsheep #lambsofinstagram #sheeplife #farmlife #blacksheep

Bantha The Battlesheep and her lamb. I am glad she is enjoying being a mum this year. As a first time mum who had twins two years ago, she really didn't enjoy it (we ended up bottle feeding one of them, Al). But this time she seems a lot happier and more relaxed. Its interesting that her lamb's ears have not remained floppy, like hers. #lambs #banthathebattlesheep #sheep #farming #lambing
