Bring on 2026. 🎆 We are excited to announce that we will be presenting our end of R&D sharing of Rebels & Patriots at the @parktheatrelondon Friday 23rd January at 14:30 Saturday 24th January at 11:30 RSVP through our bio. One is a proud soldier, one wants to get out, one was never drafted and one is torn apart. All are baby boys of war. Rebels and Patriots is an Israeli-Palestinian collaboration that follows four teenage Israelis conscripted into the IDF — exploring the trauma, violence, and moral conflict in the lives of these young people. Drawn from writer (and performer) Nadav Burstein’s experience in the Israeli military, this work confronts the fragmented, violent realities lived in the midst of war and portrays the price paid by these young men conscripted into the military. The piece is performed by an ensemble of Israeli, Palestinian and British actors. It follows four young men as they become soldiers, exploring how their traumatic time in the army affects their lives. It voices a critical voice for change, outlines the importance of protest, interrogates our shared histories and political biases, and asks important questions about complicity, responsibility and notions of national security. Rebels & Patriots has finished its 1st run at @edfringe 24’. What an incredible month it’s been. We’ve played to a total of 1,436 people, each of them giving us the life-force that got us through the festival. If you are one of those people - thank you. We also want to thank @thepleasance for hosting us in our Edinburgh debut, especially the marvelous technical team of Upstairs. You’ve made it very special. "Playwright and performer Nadav Burstein has not flinched from dealing with the hardest of issues – the affect that the conflict has on the young men sent to do their leaders’ bidding and he is to be applauded for it. The start of the play uses a lot of quotations from Shakespeare which certainly has the effect of reminding the audience that the current conflict is far from new or unique. It is however, a relief when the blank verse is replaced with modern prose – the issues here are too urgent to veil in too much poetry – useful device though it is. To bring a piece of this nature to the Fringe is brave but Nadav Burstein, Tarik Badwan, Harvey Schorah and Tom Dalrymple are to be congratulated for their courage and skill in the making of this important drama." "The actual heart of the show is an essential look into the crisis surrounding men’s mental health, and very specifically that of those in service. As an audience member, I felt like I was listening in on the private and personal conversations these guys were having, and I was almost uncomfortable with the intimate nature of what I was observing; almost as if they weren’t conversations intended to be shared or overheard. It carefully explores the devastating effects that trauma can have on a person and those surrounding them, as well as the harsh realities of PTSD and incredibly real danger of not providing or being able to access the correct support.
