Since Flipside's inception, we've believed in the power of circus to transform lives. From aerials and acrobatics to our All Abilities programs and First Nations initiatives, everything we do is about empowering young people and communities to reach new heights (literally and figuratively).

Term 1 is coming to an end! It's been a fantastic start to the year with lots of smiles, new tricks learnt and happy families coming through the Brisbane Circus Centre. We'll be back for Term 2 on 20 April for another 10 weeks of circus classes.

Gumtreekids x Flipside Circus: Special Circus Play Day!
Join us for a fun-filled morning as Gumtree Kids teams up with Flipside Circus in Hamilton for a special circus-themed play experience on April 8th!
The morning kicks off with 30 minutes of hands-on circus fun with the Flipside Circus crew from 9:30–10:00 AM, where little ones can explore beginner circus skills and playful movement.
Then from 10:00–11:30 AM, the fun continues with Gumtree Kids’ circus-themed messy and sensory play, packed with colourful trays, hands-on exploration, and imaginative play inspired by the magic of the circus.
This action-packed morning is perfect for children aged 1–6 years, giving little ones the chance to move, play, explore, and get messy in a safe and creative environment.
Come along, join the fun, and experience a unique morning of circus play and sensory exploration.

Applications are now open for Backbone's new youth ensemble, YOUNG CREATOR PRODUCTIONS, ready to stage an exciting new adaptation of Shakespeare's 'MACBETH". YCP participants will challenge their acting craft, work with leading artists from Backbone and Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre and perform at Qld's largest youth arts festival, Backbone Festival in 2026. Last night Troupe performed at the @matildaawards !
They opened the award ceremony accompanied by Qashy on the drums (who you may remember from Maybe It's Only Us).
A huge congrats to all the nominees and award winners. Including our very own @anabella_gregory who was nominated for a whopping 5 awards for her work with @backbone_brisbane and @zenzenzotheatre .
We can't wait to see what's next in the Brisbane performance scene.

Last week our Performance Program gathered with youth members from @flipsidecircus and @circusvulcana for the first session of a brand new initiative Youth Connect. 💫
It was a fantastic first session with a strong sense of commitment from the young artists stepping up, getting involved and embracing new challenges. Led by various members of the schools training teams the group explored flow tumble, a performance task , juggling and handstands together.
We can't wait for the next session!

Led by our Head of Circus & Training, Jian Nie, here’s what’s coming in 2026:

✨ Specialist classes — starting with Chinese Pole with Jian (now open to enrol)
✨ A place for every student — streams for joy, fitness, community, and skill-building, with a clear route to excel
