the ascent of mt. Kilimanjaro
Climbing up Kilimanjaro was such an incredible and hard experience. It was over 41 miles and 17,500 ft of elevation gain to the summit of 19,341 ft. somehow on my second day I got altitude sickness and could barely eat with how nauseous I was, which is a bad thing when you’re burning up thousands on calories on the mountain. the sickness lasted for most of the trek and made it harder than any hike I had done previous. It’s so interesting how much harder everything is at high elevation, your body works slower, muscles feel weaker, and your mind feels foggy and off. Luckily we were able to make the summit and it was an experience I’ll never forget! It was also crazy to descend over 14,000 ft of vert in one push the same day as summiting. But man it felt good to breathe thick air again.

10 years ago today I married the love of my life🖤 it’s crazy thinking about how much growing up and changing we’ve done over the last decade and that I’ve now spent 1/3 of my entire life with you. I’m so grateful to you for showing me the world of travel and exploration. I’m so grateful for all that you have taught me and all the growth you’ve helped me achieve. I can’t imagine who I would be without you. I love you forever Nat and can’t wait to see the memories and experiences we’ll have this next decade🖤
