An evening of striking style and vibrant dance music!
On this day, April 28th 1981, the iconic Vinyl
Fetish record store hosted their club night “The Veil” at Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace!
Who’s watching #michael 🎬 today?! In 1979, Michael Jackson celebrated his 21st birthday and the release of his album “Off The Wall” at Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace.
For the 10th anniversary of his passing, we celebrate the legacy of Prince with these photos of his “Dirty Mind” tour at Flipper’s on March 31, 1981 (@flippers.world )
It was a break out performance for the west coast that became a touchpoint of Flipper’s and Los Angeles music history. As Times Pop Music Critic Robert Hilburn wrote in the April 2, 1981 article, A Sexual Outlaw of the 80s, ‘Prince, who won a frequently electrifying concert Tuesday night at Flipper’s, is the 1980s version of one of rock’s most intoxicating symbols: the sexual outlaw.’

Who’s ready to roll in the weekend?🛼
“My father opened the original Flipper’s in LA with a true spirit of freedom and inclusion, and I’m so honored to bring that same ethos to New York, a city that’s all about community:” Liberty Ross.
4 years ago today, Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace opened up at The Rink at Rockefeller Center! Who was there? 🎉 🛼
“The Carmen Miranda headdress curved
with the roof, across the ceiling. That
was a focal point. In my vision, I saw
this huge headdress, and the lighting,
and the wiggly benches. And so I just
started scribbling, basically!”
